The three Shredder Clones at 17.8 cm scale are not just action figures; they are genuine collector’s pieces that capture the dark, tactical essence of the series’ most feared villain. A set of three figures that promises to become an indispensable staple for every NECA collector.
The Scene
This figure captures the menacing, distinctive look of the Shredder Clones as they appear in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics published by Mirage Studios. The visual rendering faithfully focuses on the villain’s original design, evoking the iconic comic-book aesthetic that defined the character and his army of identical copies.
The Character
At the heart of the 'Return to New York' storyline, the Mutant Shredder Clones represent the ultimate psychological and horrific tension point of the original saga. Born from a bizarre experiment that blends ancient magic with modern science, these monsters are not simply Foot Clan soldiers; they embody Oroku Saki’s paranoia: the fear of being replaced, killed, or superseded by more powerful, unscrupulous entities. Their role in Eastman and Laird’s work is crucial to defining the Foot Clan’s corrupt nature, showing how the thirst for power drives the creation of abominations to maintain control. For the collector, this trio is not just a visual addition but a statement of loyalty to the depth of the comic’s narrative, offering a villain variant that transcends simple action to touch the grotesque and surreal—essential elements for those who appreciate Mirage’s lore complexity.
