Cronologia
Panoramica

Movie Maniacs is a seminal line of collectible figures created by Todd McFarlane and produced by McFarlane Toys. Launching in 1998, the line fundamentally shifted action figure manufacturing by targeting adult collectors rather than children. Prior to Movie Maniacs, figures based on hard R-rated films were rarely produced or were heavily sanitized.
McFarlane Toys challenged this industry standard by delivering uncensored, movie-accurate sculpts complete with blood splatters, detailed diorama bases, and mini movie poster/marquee display stands. In terms of scale, the original run featured standard 6-inch to 7-inch articulated action figures alongside large-scale 12-inch and 18-inch figures and elaborate deluxe boxed sets.
After concluding its original run in 2004, McFarlane Toys resurrected the Movie Maniacs brand in 2023. The modern iteration shifted the line from fully articulated action figures to posed 6-inch and 12-inch figures and statues. These newer releases feature printed backdrop art, display bases, character trading cards, certificates of authenticity, and secret mystery items, expanding the line's scope beyond traditional horror to encompass major television series, cult comedies, sci-fi classics, and anniversary celebrations.
Storia

The history of Movie Maniacs spans two distinct eras. The original era ran from 1998 to 2004, delivering seven main series alongside standalone deluxe sets and oversized figures. Movie Maniacs Series 1 launched in 1998 with slasher icons Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface, alongside characters from Species II.
Over the next six years, the line expanded sequentially, introducing icons such as Michael Myers, Ghostface, The Crow, Ash Williams, the Terminator, RoboCop, and creatures from Alien and Predator. The original run ended in 2004 with Series 7 and the release of the deluxe Alien vs. Predator set. After a nearly two-decade hiatus, McFarlane Toys officially resurrected the brand in 2023.
Reimagined with a focus on posed display statues, the revival kicked off with Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary (WB100) releases, Jumanji: The Next Level figures, and comedy classics. The line continued through 2024 and 2025 with properties like The Matrix, Rocky, The Blues Brothers, and the Fallout TV series franchise. Extending into 2026, the modern era incorporates major cinematic milestones, including a 50th-anniversary statue for Jaws, Shrek, and expanded TV series lineups.
I PEZZI DI MOVIE MANIACS
Collezionismo
For action figure and film memorabilia enthusiasts, Movie Maniacs represents a historic milestone. It pioneered the market for high-detail, adult-focused movie collectibles. The original 1998–2004 releases remain highly sought after on the secondary market. Early horror releases in sealed carded packaging—particularly Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, and Eric Draven—alongside large-scale 18-inch figures and boxed sets like Sleepy Hollow command significant interest from vintage collectors.
The 2023–2026 revival era offers a fresh venue for modern collectors. By incorporating numbered certificates of authenticity, limited Gold Label retailer exclusives, Red Platinum variants, and secret mystery items in the box, McFarlane Toys has intentionally built value into the line's secondary market dynamics. Furthermore, the expansion into widely popular pop-culture franchises like Fallout, WB100, and TV series comedies allows both horror purists and general entertainment collectors to find prized centerpieces for their display shelves.

In 2023, the Movie Maniacs WB100 wave produced a unique pop-culture mashup figure featuring Bugs Bunny dressed as Superman.
