Biografia

Steve Rogers is a star-spangled hero serving his country as a sentinel of liberty and a symbol of truth. Rejecting tyranny during World War II, Steve became Captain America, the first Super-Soldier created under the top-secret Project: Rebirth.

After falling into icy North Atlantic waters during a wartime conflict, he spent decades frozen in cryogenic suspension until he was discovered and revived by the Avengers in the modern age, becoming the team's leader and moral foundation.

Throughout his heroics, Captain America represents honor and core human values, frequently standing up against government oversight, totalitarian control, and covert conspiracies. Leading legendary teams like the Avengers, the Invaders, and the Howling Commandos, he fights threats ranging from evil mastermind Red Skull to global terrorist syndicates like Hydra. The legacy of Captain America extends beyond Steve Rogers himself. Over the years, trusted allies have stepped up to wield the shield, including John Walker (U.S. Agent), Steve's former wartime partner Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier), and his longtime ally Sam Wilson (formerly the Falcon), who carries the mantle in modern comic runs and the cinematic universe.

LO SAPEVI?Captain America made his debut punching Adolf Hitler in the face on the cover of *Captain America Comics* #1 in December 1940, almost a year before the U.S. entered World War II.

Storia

Steve Rogers grew up as a frail, sickly young man from Brooklyn, New York. Determined to fight Axis forces during World War II, he attempted to enlist in the U.S. military but was repeatedly rejected due to his poor physical health.

His unwavering courage and moral fortitude caught the attention of Dr. Abraham Erskine, who selected him to participate in Project: Rebirth.

Injected with the experimental Super-Soldier Serum and exposed to Vita-Rays, Steve's body was enhanced to peak human physical perfection. Armed with a unique circular shield made from an indestructible Vibranium and steel alloy, he officially became Captain America. Fighting alongside his teenage sidekick Bucky Barnes, he battled Nazi forces and Hydra until 1945, when an explosion launched him into icy waters, keeping him trapped in ice for decades.

LO SAPEVI?When Steve Rogers became disillusioned with government corruption in 1974, he briefly abandoned his superhero identity to become Nomad.

Evoluzione

Captain America debuted in late 1940 as a World War II propaganda hero designed by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby to fight Axis powers. After disappearing at the end of the war, he was reintroduced into modern continuity in 1964's *The Avengers* #4. This change transformed him from a wartime symbol into a reflective 'man out of time' struggling to adapt to modern society while maintaining his foundational moral compass. During the political instability of the 1970s and 1980s, Steve Rogers evolved to represent ideals beyond government authority.

Disillusioned by high-level political corruption, he abandoned his mantle to become **Nomad** in the 1974 'Secret Empire' storyline and later adopted the identity of 'The Captain' during 1987's 'Captain America No More' arc. In the 21st century, writer Ed Brubaker added gritty espionage themes, reintroducing Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier and killing off Steve Rogers following *Civil War* (2006–2007). This marked an era where Bucky took over the shield, followed by Sam Wilson adopting the mantle in 2014. From comic events like *Secret Empire* (2017) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America has evolved into a symbol carried by multiple heroes.

LO SAPEVI?Several distinct heroes have officially held the mantle of Captain America in mainstream comic history, including Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, and John Walker.
