Dr. Robert Bruce Banner is a brilliant nuclear physicist created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby who debuted in Marvel's The Incredible Hulk #1 in May 1962. Cronologia
Biografia

Dr. Robert Bruce Banner is a world-renowned nuclear physicist whose life changed forever during an experimental weapons test at Los Diablos Missile Base under General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. While overseeing the detonation of his Gamma Bomb, Banner noticed teenager Rick Jones trespassing in the blast zone.
Sacrificing his own safety, Banner threw Jones into a protective trench just as the bomb detonated, absorbing a catastrophic dose of gamma radiation. The radiation mutated Banner's DNA, causing him to transform into the towering, green-skinned behemoth known as the Hulk whenever subjected to intense emotional stress or rage. Initially hunted as a menace by General Ross and the U.S.
military, Hulk eventually earned a pardon after saving Earth from the Metal Master, going on to become a founding member of the Avengers. Despite his heroics, Banner's life remains a tragic struggle between his peaceful, brilliant mind and the uncontrollable force within. Across various multiversal encounters, Banner's journey has crossed paths with Earth's defenders and legendary heroes alike—ranging from Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman to dark supernatural forces like Ghost Rider and The Darkness—while constantly seeking a cure for his condition.
Storia

Bruce Banner's origins are rooted in severe childhood trauma inflicted by his abusive father, Brian Banner, which laid the psychological foundation for his Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
As an adult, Bruce channelled his intelligence into nuclear physics, developing the experimental Gamma Bomb for the military. The fateful accident saving Rick Jones unleashed his repressed trauma in physical form as the Hulk.
During his early years at Los Diablos Missile Base, Banner also fell in love with Betty Ross, the daughter of his chief military persecutor, General Ross. Despite violent opposition from her father, Bruce and Betty eventually married, though her later death from radiation poisoning left Banner mentally shattered.

Evoluzione
Bruce Banner's character evolution spans over six decades of psychological, physical, and thematic transformations. Originally turning into a gray Hulk strictly at nightfall in 1962, his transformations quickly evolved into rage-triggered green outbursts. In the 1980s, writer Bill Mantlo introduced Banner's childhood trauma and abusive father, framing his transformations around Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Peter David expanded this during his 12-year run by introducing distinct alters like the mob enforcer Joe Fixit (Gray Hulk) and the Merged "Professor Hulk." In modern storylines, Banner evolved from an exiled gladiator king in Planet Hulk to a terrifying cosmic horror in Al Ewing's The Immortal Hulk, which revealed that Banner and all gamma-irradiated beings are immortal through the cosmic "Green Door." Subsequent runs transformed him into the pilot of "Starship Hulk" and, in the Infernal Hulk era, left a powerless human Banner battling to reclaim his physical body from the demonic Eldest. In live-action media, Banner evolved from Bill Bixby's tragic lone wanderer to Eric Bana's and Edward Norton's hunted scientist, culminating in Mark Ruffalo's MCU portrayal of the fully integrated "Smart Hulk."
Da Collezione
As one of Marvel's most iconic original heroes, Bruce Banner and the Hulk represent staple fixtures in action figure manufacturing and high-end collectibles.
The stark contrast between Banner's mild-mannered human form and the Hulk's massive green physique presents a compelling dynamic for figure lines, statues, and digital collectibles like Marvel Snap. Major action figure runs frequently highlight key comic milestones, such as Planet Hulk gladiatorial armor, Gray Hulk/Joe Fixit, or the integrated MCU Smart Hulk. Grail items for serious collectors center on key comic debuts, limited statue sculpts, and vintage 1970s and 1980s memorabilia celebrating both live-action and comic eras.

During Civil War II, Hawkeye killed Bruce Banner using a specially designed gamma-tipped arrow.
