Biografia

Black Adam, originally known as Teth-Adam, is an ancient Kahndaqi ruler and champion who was granted divine abilities by the Wizard Shazam. Driven by an uncompromising sense of justice and duty toward his homeland, he serves as one of the DC Universe's most prominent antiheroes and the long-standing archenemy of Shazam (Captain Marvel).
In ancient times, Teth-Adam was corrupted by his extraordinary magical powers, leading him to overthrow the Pharaoh and take control of the throne. This betrayal prompted the Wizard Shazam to rename him 'Black Adam' and banish him to the deepest reaches of space.
Resurrected and re-established in modern times, he has moved between being a ruthless tyrant, a tragic ruler, and a member of premier superhero teams like the Justice Society of America and the Justice League. Today, Black Adam stands as the sovereign ruler and fiercely protective leader of Kahndaq. Willing to defy global governments and Earth's superhero community alike, he maintains peace and sovereignty for his people through brutal magic and an unyielding code of honor.
Storia

Created by writer Otto Binder and artist C. C. Beck, Black Adam made his debut in Fawcett Comics' *The Marvel Family* #1 in December 1945. In his golden age origin story, Teth-Adam was an ancient Egyptian named 'Mighty Adam' who received powers from the Wizard Shazam. After misusing his power, he was banished to the farthest star in the universe.
Flying back to Earth over 5,000 years, he arrived in 1945, where Uncle Dudley tricked him into speaking the magic word 'Shazam', turning him back into a mortal who instantly aged into dust. Following DC Comics' acquisition of the Fawcett properties, Black Adam was brought back to life in 1977's *Shazam!* #28 via Doctor Sivana's resurrection machine.
In the Post-Crisis continuity, Jerry Ordway's *The Power of Shazam!* introduced Theo Adam, an archaeologist host who murdered Billy Batson's parents while unlocking Teth-Adam's power. Later, Geoff Johns and Gary Frank rebooted his backstory in The New 52, portraying Teth-Adam as an ancient Kahndaqi slave who took the Shazam power from his nephew Aman to liberate his people through lethal force.
I PEZZI DI BLACK ADAM
Evoluzione
Black Adam's trajectory across comic book history represents one of DC's most significant character evolutions. Debuting in 1945 as a single-issue villain who aged into dust, he was brought back in 1977 following DC's acquisition of Fawcett Comics. During the Bronze Age, he was portrayed strictly as a straightforward, power-mad supervillain determined to destroy Captain Marvel. The late 1990s and 2000s marked a major turning point under writers Jerry Ordway, Geoff Johns, and David S. Goyer. They separated Teth-Adam's noble origin from his host Theo Adam and inducted him into the Justice Society of America.
In *JSA: Black Reign* and the weekly series *52*, Black Adam evolved into a tragic antihero devoted to Kahndaq, forming the Black Marvel Family before being driven to trigger World War III following their deaths. In modern continuity spanning The New 52, DC Rebirth, and Infinite Frontier, Black Adam solidified his role as a sovereign ruler and complex protector. From briefly wielding a Yellow Power Ring to fighting alongside the Justice League and selecting Malik White (Bolt) as his heir, Black Adam transformed from a villain into an influential guardian driven by a strict code of national protection.

During his team-up with Sinestro, Black Adam briefly wielded a yellow Sinestro Corps Power Ring.
