Geralt of Rivia, known as Gwynbleidd ('The White Wolf') and the 'Butcher of Blaviken', is a mutated monster slayer from the Witcher School of the Wolf at Kaer Morhen. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, his iconic video game appearance follows his journey across the war-torn Continent to find his Child of Surprise, Ciri, while facing the spectral threat of the Wild Hunt.
La Scena
This appearance represents Geralt of Rivia during the events of CD Projekt Red's video game title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015) and its narrative expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Set amidst a massive Nilfgaardian invasion, Geralt travels through region after region—including Velen, Novigrad, and the Skellige Isles—searching for his adopted daughter Ciri, who is pursued by King Eredin and the Red Riders of the Wild Hunt. Geralt's journey in this era ultimately concludes in the southern duchy of Toussaint, which serves as his canonical retirement.
Significato
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt represents the emotional and narrative climax of Geralt's video game story arc. In this chapter, Geralt sets aside his typical stance of witcher neutrality to protect his loved ones, reuniting with the sorceresses Yennefer of Vengerberg and Triss Merigold to defend Ciri from the Wild Hunt. Geralt's actions in this era directly shape the fate of empires, the witcher trade, and the destiny of the Elder Blood, marking the high point of his legendary status across the Continent.
Design
Geralt's appearance in The Witcher 3 is defined by his stark white hair and yellow cat-like eyes, the permanent side effect of unique experimental mutations he survived during the Trial of the Grasses at Kaer Morhen. On his back, he carries two scabbards for his swords—one of steel for humans and beasts, and one of silver for monsters—complemented by a silver School of the Wolf medallion around his neck. His gear consists of rugged, weather-worn leather and chainmail designed for high mobility and protection, reflecting decades of monster hunting on the road.
