Biografia

The Master of Masters is a legendary figure who predates the current timeline of the Kingdom Hearts universe. As a child, he lived through the original war between light and darkness, an experience that hardened him and shaped his cynical worldview.

He is the creator of the Keyblades and the mentor to the six Keyblade Masters known as the Foretellers and Luxu. His personality is famously unpredictable; he oscillates between a whimsical, almost silly demeanor and a cold, serious temperament that intimidates even his most powerful apprentices. His true allegiance is complex.

While he claims to want to end the fight against darkness forever, he is willing to sacrifice the world and manipulate those loyal to him to achieve his goals. He believes that the current state of the world allows the weak to steal power from the strong, and he seeks to recreate the world to trap sentient Darkness. Following his disappearance before the first Keyblade War, he has remained a hidden force, eventually resurfacing in the reality known as Quadratum.

LO SAPEVI?The Master has a teal-blue eye with a slitted cat-like pupil, which he embedded into the No Name Keyblade.

Storia

The Master’s origins lie in the Age of Fairytales, where he fought against manifestations of darkness that took human-like forms. After losing many comrades to the darkness, he realized that it could not be easily defeated and devised a long-term plan for a ceasefire.

He studied the χ-blade and used that knowledge to forge Keyblades from the hearts of others. He took six apprentices—Ira, Invi, Aced, Gula, Ava, and Luxu—naming them after the Seven Deadly Sins.

To ensure he could see into the future, he embedded his own eye into a Keyblade called 'No Name' and gave it to Luxu, allowing him to record future events in the Book of Prophecies. He then orchestrated the events leading to the Keyblade War by assigning his apprentices conflicting roles and intentionally leaving out pages of the Book to sow mistrust.

LO SAPEVI?He claims he refuses to take off his black coat because he is 'afraid of the darkness,' though the truth of this is unknown.

Evoluzione

Initially presented as a mysterious, almost mythological figure in the 'Age of Fairytales,' the Master of Masters has evolved into the definitive primary antagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series.

Early depictions focused on his role as a mentor and creator, but later games like Union χ and Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind revealed the sheer scale of his machinations. His character has shifted from a background architect to an active player who exists across time and even outside the known reality. With the announcement of Kingdom Hearts IV and the 'Lost Master Arc,' his role has been solidified as the successor to Xehanort, representing a more ideological and ancient threat to the series' protagonists.

LO SAPEVI?The inscription 'XSUPER' on his mysterious Black Box has led to the prominent fan theory that his true name is Superbia.

Da Collezione

For dedicated collectors, the primary focus is on official materials that reveal the Master's secrets. Key items include the 'Kingdom Hearts Series Memorial Ultimania' and the 'Kingdom Hearts III Ultimania,' which contain exclusive artwork and lore interviews regarding his character design.

The 'Square Enix Official KH4 Press Kit' is highly sought after for its early look at the Master's appearance in the realistic world of Quadratum. Lore-accurate replicas of the 'No Name' Keyblade (The Gazing Eye) and the iconic 'Black Box' are considered the ultimate 'grail' items for fans, representing the Master's lasting legacy in the physical world.

LO SAPEVI?He gave his apprentices names based on the Seven Deadly Sins (e.g., Ira for Wrath, Gula for Gluttony).
