Biografia

King Vegeta III serves as the absolute monarch of the Saiyans and the commander-in-chief of their military forces. Visually, he bears a striking resemblance to his eldest son, though he is distinguished by his taller stature, brown hair, and a characteristic beard.

As a leader, he is depicted as a bold and arrogant warrior who possesses a level-headedness and intelligence that even his enemies, the Tuffles, compared to their own genius levels. Despite his title, he was a pragmatic ruler who understood the reality of his people's subjugation under Frieza's empire, hiding his true resentment to maintain order.

His role in the narrative is primarily that of a tragic catalyst. He represents the peak of Saiyan pride and the eventual failure of their royal lineage to overcome the overwhelming power of the Galactic Emperor. While he was a merciless commander who enjoyed the destruction of his enemies, he was also the primary object of his son's respect and love during Vegeta's childhood. His death during a desperate, failed coup attempt against Frieza marked the end of the Saiyan monarchy and the near-total extinction of his race.

LO SAPEVI?King Vegeta was described as having a brain equal in intelligence to the Tuffle race.

Storia

The King's rise to power began on Planet Plant, where the Saiyans lived alongside the technologically advanced Tuffles. In Age 720, King Vegeta’s superior intellect allowed him to rally the Saiyan tribes, initiating the Saiyan-Tuffle War. After a decade of conflict, the Saiyans emerged victorious in Age 730, and the planet was renamed Planet Vegeta in his honor.

Following this victory, he entered into a reluctant alliance with the Galactic Emperor, King Cold, and later Frieza, trading the Saiyans' combat services for space-faring technology. During his reign, King Vegeta's rule was defined by secrecy and paranoia. He discovered the Demon Realm planet and utilized it as a private training ground.

His domestic life involved a marriage in Age 731 to an unnamed Saiyan woman, who gave birth to Prince Vegeta in Age 732 and later a second son, Tarble. However, his kingship was constantly overshadowed by cosmic threats; he was once humiliated by the God of Destruction, Beerus, who used the King's head as a footstool after being dissatisfied with the quality of a pillow provided to him. Ultimately, fearing Frieza's plan to eliminate the Saiyans, the King led an elite guard to storm Frieza's ship, where he was killed by a single blow from the tyrant.

LO SAPEVI?He discovered the Demon Realm planet and secretly used it as a training location.

Evoluzione

King Vegeta's character has evolved from a shadowed background figure to a complex moral actor in the series' modern era. In early Dragon Ball Z filler and films, he was portrayed purely as a ruthless, paranoid tyrant who would execute children to protect his bloodline's power.

However, 'Dragon Ball Super: Broly' and recent media like 'Dragon Ball Daima' have softened this image, presenting him as a man caught between the pride of his race and the impossible pressure of serving cosmic entities like Beerus and Frieza. His visual design also updated in 2018, replacing the classic armor crest with a more ornate, regal black and gold suit that includes a white skirt and a blue-gemmed necklace, reflecting a more sophisticated version of Saiyan royalty.

LO SAPEVI?Beerus once humiliated him because the King kept the universe's most comfortable pillow for himself.

Da Collezione

For collectors, King Vegeta is often treated as a 'grail' character due to his relatively few appearances compared to the main cast. While high-end statues are rare, he is a mainstay in the digital and card-collecting scene. Key items include his various cards in 'Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle,' where his 'Royal Lineage' link makes him essential for Saiyan-themed decks.

The arcade-based 'Dragon Ball Heroes' has produced several physical cards featuring his 'Xeno' and 'Dark Masked King' forms, which are highly sought after by completionists. Most recently, his 2026 addition to 'Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO' as a legacy DLC character has sparked a renewed interest in his classic 'Budokai Tenkaichi 3' era representation, making him a trending figure in modern Dragon Ball gaming collections.

LO SAPEVI?In the 'Dragon Ball Heroes' timeline, he appears in a possessed form known as the Dark Masked King.
