BILBO BAGGINS
Bilbo Baggins is a legendary Hobbit of the Shire who played a pivotal role in the history of Middle-earth as the finder of the One Ring. Initially a comfort-loving bachelor, his journey from a reluctant "burglar" to a courageous hero remains one of the most celebrated tales in the fantasy genre.
Cronologia
Biografia
Bilbo Baggins was born in the year 2890 of the Third Age to Bungo Baggins and Belladonna Took. Living in the luxurious Hobbit-hole of Bag End, he spent much of his early adulthood as a wealthy and respectable bachelor.
His life took a dramatic turn at the age of 50 when the wizard Gandalf the Grey and a company of thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, recruited him for a quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.
During this journey, Bilbo evolved from a timid homebody into a clever and resilient adventurer. His discovery of a mysterious ring in a dark tunnel beneath the Misty Mountains changed the fate of the world forever. After helping defeat Smaug and surviving the Battle of Five Armies, Bilbo returned to the Shire with wealth and stories, eventually passing the Ring to his heir, Frodo, before departing for the Undying Lands.
Storia
Bilbo's childhood in the Shire was marked by a curiosity that was unusual for his kind, a trait that caught the attention of the wizard Gandalf early on.
He was known in his youth for his exceptional skill at throwing rocks, a talent that made small animals flee whenever he reached for a stone.
Following the deaths of his father in 2926 and his mother in 2934, Bilbo became the master of Bag End. For seven years, he lived a solitary, quiet life, becoming a figure of great respectability among his neighbors until the unexpected arrival of Thorin's company disrupted his peace in 2941.

Evoluzione
Bilbo represents the classic 'unlikely hero' archetype. He begins as a stagnant character, content with his tea and books, but the journey to Erebor forces him to discover inner strength and wit.
Unlike the epic warriors of the story, Bilbo's evolution is rooted in his morality; his decision to spare Gollum out of pity and his willingness to give up the Arkenstone to prevent war show a shift from self-interest to global concern. In his later years, he becomes a historian and poet, serving as the bridge between the simple life of the Shire and the grand legends of Middle-earth.
Da Collezione
For collectors, Bilbo Baggins is a staple character with diverse representations. Weta Workshop offers the most prestigious items, including high-end 1:6 scale statues of both the young Martin Freeman version and the elder Ian Holm version.
LEGO figures of Bilbo, particularly the 'Shire' and 'Burglar' variants, are highly sought after by completionists. For prop enthusiasts, United Cutlery produces the definitive 'Sting' sword replicas. Value trends show that limited-edition pieces depicting the 'Riddles in the Dark' scene remain 'grail' items that consistently appreciate in price among serious Middle-earth collectors.

The Elvish dagger 'Sting' was found by Bilbo in a Stone-trolls' lair along with the swords Glamdring and Orcrist.
