THE WATCHERS
The Watchers are a race of ancient, nearly omnipotent cosmic beings dedicated to observing and recording all knowledge in the universe. Originally known as the Luminous, they adhere to a strict code of non-interference, though the famous Watcher Uatu has famously broken this vow hundreds of times to protect Earth.
Cronologia
Biografia

The Watchers are among the oldest advanced species in the universe, having existed long before most other civilizations. Their primary mission is to compile knowledge of every cosmic event into a central collective known as 'The One' and a pocket dimension called the Cyclopedia Universum.
This race inhabits various strategic locations across the cosmos, such as the Blue Area of the Moon on Earth and Planet T-37X, where they guard the Apex of All Reality. While the race as a whole remains distant and detached, the most prominent representative, Uatu, became a recurring figure in Earth's history.
Assigned to watch over Solar System-2, Uatu has struggled with his race's neutrality, often acting as a silent guardian or providing crucial information to heroes during existential threats. His presence is characterized by a massive stature and an unwavering, albeit sometimes conflicted, gaze upon the unfolding history of the multiverse.
Storia

Originally known as the Luminous, the race resided on their homeworld, Lumina. In a well-meaning attempt to accelerate the development of other species, they shared nuclear knowledge with the Prosilicans.
This decision resulted in a catastrophic intergalactic war and the near-total destruction of the Prosilican world.
Devastated by the consequences of their actions, the Luminous adopted the name 'Watchers' and swore a sacred oath never to interfere in the affairs of other races again. They relocated to the Apex of All Reality to begin their eternal vigil, though the remnants of the Prosilicans would eventually evolve into the vengeful 'Reckoning,' leading to a war that would redefine the Watchers' role in the cosmos eons later.
Evoluzione
The Watchers have evolved from a simple plot device used to frame 'What If?' stories into a central pillar of Marvel's cosmic hierarchy. In their early history, they were depicted as infallible, passive observers. This changed as Uatu's personal bond with Earth grew, leading him to break his oath nearly 400 times.
The character reached a dark milestone in 2014's 'Original Sin' when Uatu was murdered for his eyes, which held the universe's secrets. However, the 2020 resurrection and the subsequent 'Reckoning War' in 2022 transformed the race yet again; most Watchers lost their sight, leaving Uatu to emerge as the 'One and Only Watcher,' a proactive guardian of the timeline who now selects 'Junior Watchers' to assist in cataloging the multiverse.
Da Collezione
For collectors, Uatu is a massive presence both narratively and physically. Hasbro's Marvel Legends line produced a highly sought-after Build-A-Figure version based on the MCU 'What If...?' design, but the definitive 'grail' for comic purists is the oversized Marvel Legends HasLab figure released as a tier for the Galactus project.
Funko has also released several versions of Uatu, including a glow-in-the-dark variant that is a favorite for cosmic-themed displays. The character's unique aesthetic—a massive, bald head and flowing blue robes—makes him a standout center-piece for any Fantastic Four or Cosmic Marvel shelf. Recent interest has spiked due to news of Jeffrey Wright's live-action debut in 'Avengers: Doomsday,' making older Uatu figures a solid investment for value trends.

In the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610), Watchers are stone totem-like alien supercomputers with large red eyes.
