NECRONS
The Necrons are an ancient, robotic xenos race from Warhammer 40,000 who traded their souls for immortal bodies of living metal. Once the organic Necrontyr, they have awakened after 60 million years of stasis to reclaim their lost galactic empire.
Cronologia
Biografia
The Necrons are soulless, undying mechanical monstrosities that serve as the primary antagonists for many of the galaxy's 'lesser' races.
Originally the humanoid Necrontyr, they were transformed into robotic entities through biotransference, a process that stripped the majority of the species—the Necron Warriors—of their emotions, intellect, and individuality.
These warriors now exist as faceless automatons, bound to the unyielding will of their aristocratic commanders. In the modern era, known as the Era Indomitus, the Necrons have fully awakened from their Great Sleep. Led by powerful figures like the Silent King Szarekh, they deploy in massive phalanxes from their Tomb Worlds. They are implacable and ruthless killers, largely ignorant of their own nightmarish condition, functioning as the inexorable emissaries of death itself. Their role is to rebuild their star-spanning empires, crushing any who stand in the way of their total dominion.
Storia
The history of the Necrons is rooted in the tragic past of the Necrontyr, an organic race plagued by short, painful lives. In their desperation to escape mortality and win a galactic war against the Old Ones, they entered into a pact with the C'tan, the Star Gods.
The C'tan offered immortality through biotransference, transferring the Necrontyr's consciousness into metallic bodies made of necrodermis. This process, however, was a trap; while it granted immortality, it consumed their souls and turned the masses into mindless slaves.
After the war, the Necrons eventually rebelled against the C'tan, shattering them into shards. Following this victory, the Silent King ordered the entire race into stasis for 60 million years to wait for the galaxy to heal from the conflict. In the 41st Millennium, these Tomb Worlds have begun to reactivate, releasing billions of undying machines back into the stars.
Evoluzione
The Necrons have seen one of the most significant lore evolutions in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. In their early 'Oldcron' era (1990–2010), they were depicted as silent, mindless terminators who served the C'tan with no agency of their own. This changed radically in 2011 with the 5th Edition Codex, which introduced the 'Newcron' era.
This reboot gave them complex personalities, ancient dynasties, and a history of rebelling against their former Star Gods. In the most recent 'Era Indomitus,' the Necrons have evolved into a primary galactic superpower. The return of the Silent King has shifted them from fragmented raiders into a unified force capable of threatening the entire Imperium. They are no longer just a threat to life, but a civilization with internal conflicts, politics, and a desperate desire to reverse the very biotransference that once saved them.
Da Collezione
For collectors, the Necrons offer a striking 'undying legion' aesthetic that is unique in the hobby. Games Workshop is the primary producer of their miniatures, with the 'Indomitus' box set standing as a legendary milestone for modern collectors. One of the most sought-after 'grail' models is the centerpiece figure of the Silent King (Szarekh), known for its intricate detail and scale.
As of June 2026, the market is buzzing with the reveal of the updated plastic kit for the C'tan Shard of the Nightbringer, which finally replaces a resin model from 2002. Other highly anticipated releases for the end of 2026 include a new Destroyer Lord variant and updated rules for the classic Monolith, ensuring Necrons remain a top-tier choice for both painters and competitive players.

Trazyn the Infinite once attempted to 'collect' a whole warband of the Black Legion for his museum.
