ABADDON THE DESPOILER

Cronologia
Biografia
Abaddon the Despoiler is the undisputed leader of the Black Legion and the architect of the Imperium's greatest existential threats. Originally the First Captain of the Luna Wolves under Horus Lupercal, he now serves as the Warmaster of Chaos.
Unlike other champions of the Warp, Abaddon refuses to swear fealty to a single Chaos God, instead bearing the Mark of Chaos Ascendant, which grants him the favor of all four Dark Gods while he maintains his own independent will.
He rules the Black Legion with absolute dominion, supported by an inner circle known as the Chosen of Abaddon. This council consists of four powerful Chaos Lords: the Lord Ravager (Khorne), the Lord Deceiver (Tzeentch), the Lord Corruptor (Nurgle), and the Lord Purgator (Slaanesh). From his massive flagship, the Vengeful Spirit, Abaddon orchestrates the 'Crimson Path,' a multi-millennium strategy designed to bridge the Eye of Terror with realspace and ultimately conquer Terra.
Storia
Born on the hive world of Cthonia, Abaddon was a violent gang leader who killed his father in a ritual before being recruited into the XVI Legion, the Luna Wolves.
He rose to become First Captain and a member of the Mournival, an inner council that served as the primary advisors to Horus Lupercal during the Great Crusade.
When Horus fell to the influence of the Chaos Gods, Abaddon followed his Primarch into rebellion, leading some of the most brutal actions of the Horus Heresy at Isstvan III, Isstvan V, and during the Siege of Terra. Following Horus's death and the defeat of the traitor forces, Abaddon retreated to the Eye of Terror. Disgusted by Horus's failure, he rejected his Primarch’s legacy, unified the fractured traitor warbands, and repainted his legion's armor black. This marked the birth of the Black Legion, an army dedicated not to the past, but to the total destruction of the Imperium under Abaddon's new vision.
Evoluzione
Abaddon has evolved from a loyal subordinate to a revolutionary warlord who redefined the nature of Chaos. In the early era of the Great Crusade, he was defined by his loyalty to Horus and his role within the Mournival. However, following the Siege of Terra, he underwent a radical ideological shift, viewing Horus's reliance on the gods and failure to conquer Terra as a weakness.
By forming the Black Legion and adopting a black-and-gold color scheme, he signaled a departure from the Legion-based politics of the past. His strategic evolution culminated in the 13th Black Crusade. While earlier campaigns were seen by the Imperium as isolated failures, they were revealed to be part of the 'Crimson Path,' a master plan that successfully destroyed Cadia and opened the Great Rift. Most recently, during the Era Indomitus and the Arks of Omen campaign, Abaddon has moved beyond mere destruction, seeking reality-warping technologies to solidify his control over the galaxy.
Da Collezione
Abaddon is a centerpiece for any Warhammer 40,000 collector. His current plastic miniature, released alongside the Vigilus campaign, is a significant upgrade from his classic metal model, capturing his massive size and the intricate detail of the Talon of Horus and Drach'nyen.
Collectors often target the 'Arks of Omen' campaign books and the limited-edition releases from the 'Dawn of Fire' and 'Horus Heresy' series. The 2026 Armageddon Starter Set and the accompanying 'Operation Imperator' lore are the most recent focus for collectors, as they represent the character's entry into the 11th Edition of the game. For card collectors, his 'Despoiler' cards in Warpforge and Warhammer Combat Cards are considered high-value assets for Chaos-themed decks.

He refuses to become a Daemon Prince to avoid losing his free will to the Chaos Gods.
