Cronologia
Biografia
Hordak is a terrifying intergalactic conqueror and the supreme leader of the Evil Horde, a faction separate from Skeletor's Evil Warriors. Characterized by his distinctive white face, bat-like features, and red horde emblem, he is a formidable blend of sorcerer and scientist.
While he serves as the main foil to She-Ra on the planet Etheria, his influence spans the cosmos, often placing him in direct conflict with both He-Man and his treacherous former pupil, Skeletor. Operating from the Fright Zone, Hordak commands a diverse army of monstrous henchmen including Mantenna, Leech, and Grizlor.
Unlike other villains who rely solely on magic or brute force, Hordak is a pioneer of technomancy, allowing him to transform his physical form into a variety of mechanical weapons. Whether he is acting as a vassal for his brother, Horde Prime, or seeking to reclaim the power of Castle Grayskull, Hordak remains one of the most persistent and technologically advanced threats in the Masters of the Universe lore.
Storia
Hordak’s origins are rooted in betrayal and cosmic ambition. In the original 1980s lore, he was the mentor of Skeletor on Eternia. During an attempted coup against the royal family, Hordak and Skeletor kidnapped the infant twins of King Randor and Queen Marlena.
While Skeletor was captured, Hordak escaped to the planet Etheria with Princess Adora, raising her to become Force Captain of the Horde.
In modern reboots, his backstory is even more ancient; the 2002 series depicts him as a god-like warlord from 'Preternia' who was banished to the dimension of Despondos by King Grayskull after a devastating war. The 2018 reimagining adds a tragic layer, portraying him as a flawed clone of the galactic emperor Horde Prime, driven by a desperate need to prove his worth through conquest.
Evoluzione
Hordak has undergone one of the most radical evolutions in the franchise. In the 1980s, he was primarily a 'technomancer' with the comical ability to transform his nose into a flute or his arm into a vacuum cleaner, though he was always portrayed as more competent than Skeletor.
The 2002 'MYP' reboot shifted him into the realm of dark high-fantasy, making him an ancient, almost mythological entity responsible for the creation of Skeletor. The 2018 DreamWorks series provided a more psychological approach, humanizing him as a discarded clone with deep-seated abandonment issues. Most recently, in the 2024 'Revolution' series and the 2026 live-action lore, Hordak has returned to his roots as a cold, calculating cosmic threat, blending advanced alien technology with dark magic to threaten the entire universe.
Da Collezione
For collectors, Hordak is a 'Tier 1' antagonist whose figures often command premium prices. The original 1985 Mattel figure is iconic for its gray skin and unique action features. The 'Masters of the Universe Classics' line (2008) is highly sought after by completionists as it established his 'real' name, Hec-Tor Kur, and provided the most detailed sculpt of his armor.
Recent 'Masterverse' and 'Origins' figures have kept the character accessible, but the 'grail' for many modern collectors is the upcoming 2026 film-inspired statue, which captures the 'Horde Alien' aesthetic. Value trends show that Hordak figures featuring his 'Hurricane' or 'Buzz-Saw' variants typically see higher appreciation due to their unique mechanical parts.

Hordak is voiced by Keith David in the recent Masters of the Universe: Revolution series.
