Frodo Baggins is a Hobbit of the Shire and the chosen Ring-bearer in the quest to defeat the Dark Lord Sauron. Following the departure of his guardian Bilbo Baggins, Frodo inherited a mysterious magic ring, later revealed by the wizard Gandalf to be the One Ring.
Despite his small stature and peaceful nature, Frodo volunteered to carry the corrupting artifact into the heart of the enemy's territory to ensure the survival of Middle-earth. His journey saw him lead the Fellowship of the Ring through Moria and Lothlórien before the group splintered at Amon Hen.
Accompanied only by his loyal gardener Samwise Gamgee and the treacherous creature Gollum, Frodo traversed the Dead Marshes and the jagged peaks of Mordor. His character is defined by a unique spiritual resilience, though the physical and mental toll of the Ring's corruption left him permanently changed by the time he completed his mission at Mount Doom.
Storia
Born in TA 2968 to Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck, Frodo spent his early youth at Brandy Hall in Buckland. He was known as a rascal who often stole mushrooms from Farmer Maggot's farm alongside his friends Merry and Pippin.
Tragedy struck in TA 2980 when his parents drowned in a boating accident, leaving him an orphan at age 12. In TA 2989, his elder cousin (whom he called uncle) Bilbo Baggins adopted him and brought him to live at Bag End in Hobbiton.
Under Bilbo's tutelage, Frodo learned Elvish and the lore of Middle-earth, inheriting both Bilbo's adventurous spirit and his unusual longevity. On their shared birthday in TA 3001, Bilbo departed the Shire, leaving Frodo as the master of Bag End and the unwitting possessor of the most dangerous weapon in existence.

Frodo's journey is one of profound psychological and physical transformation. He begins as a relatively sheltered, mischievous Hobbit with a desire for adventure inherited from Bilbo. Spiritually, the constant weight of the Ring thins his soul, a state Bilbo described as feeling like 'butter scraped over too much bread.' By the time he reaches Mount Doom, he is no longer the innocent Shire-dweller who left Bag End; he is a figure of tragic heroism who has sacrificed his own peace to save the world, ultimately finding that he cannot truly return to his old life, leading to his departure for the Undying Lands.
