Debuting alongside the launch of Overwatch 2 in October 2022, Reaper's redesigned appearance modernizes the iconic wraith-like mercenary Gabriel Reyes. The updated look replaces his original bone-white skull mask with an edgier silver metallic finish, integrating sleek armor plating and refined textures onto his signature black hooded coat.

La Scena

This appearance represents Gabriel Reyes during the era of Overwatch 2 (launched October 2022) as he continues his shadow campaign across a changing global battlefield. Shrouded in dark energy and wielding updated twin Hellfire Shotguns, Reaper operates amidst evolving conflicts and shifting dynamics within Talon—including internal fractures under new leadership such as Vendetta. Whether executing lethal close-quarters flanks or reappearing in later spin-offs like Overwatch Rush (2026), this look captures the deadly assassin at the height of his modern power.

Significato

As one of the earliest concepts created during the development of Blizzard's cancelled Project Titan, Reaper represents a foundational pillar of the franchise's history. His Overwatch 2 redesign reflects both his ongoing narrative progression from former Blackwatch Commander Gabriel Reyes into a Talon enforcer, and the technical aesthetic evolution of the hero roster. The update highlights his persistent status as a lethal Flanker while honoring his complex history—from his early days in the US Army and LAPD to his cellular transformation following the destruction of Overwatch's Swiss headquarters.

Design

Design

Reaper's Overwatch 2 visual design updates his dark, mercenary silhouette with modernized materials and refined armor plating integrated directly into his dark suit. His signature heavy hooded cowl and flowing black coat return, but the iconic bone-white mask from his 2016 original look has been updated to a deadlier silver metallic scheme. His dual Hellfire Shotguns feature upgraded textures and sleeker metallic detailing, complementing his spectral abilities such as Wraith Form, Shadow Step, and Death Blossom.
