Obadiah Stane is a cold, calculating businessman who views life as a high-stakes game of chess. As the President and CEO of Stane International, he dedicated his career to the methodical destruction of the Stark legacy. Unlike many of Iron Man's foes, Stane’s primary weapon was not technology, but psychological manipulation.
He famously orchestrated a hostile takeover of Stark International, systematically dismantling Tony Stark’s personal life and driving him back into a catastrophic relapse of alcoholism. After successfully seizing Stark’s company and renaming it Stane International, he transitioned from a corporate predator to a physical one.
Using incomplete notes left behind by Stark, Stane’s team of scientists developed the Iron Monger Armor MK I. This suit was designed to be a larger, more powerful version of the Iron Man armor, intended to serve as a prototype for an army of munitions to be sold to the highest bidder. His reign ended in a climactic battle against Stark's Silver Centurion armor, where Stane chose to end his own life rather than suffer the humiliation of defeat.
