LT. MIKE HARRIGAN
Lt. Mike Harrigan is a legendary LAPD detective who became the first human to kill a Predator in hand-to-hand combat aboard a Yautja Mother Ship. Known for his rule-breaking tactics and survival instincts, he has transitioned from a local Los Angeles hero to an interstellar legend preserved in stasis by the Yautja themselves.
Cronologia
Biografia
Michael R. 'Mike' Harrigan is a veteran LAPD Detective Lieutenant who famously held the line during the 1997 Los Angeles gang wars. A man characterized by an obsessive-compulsive personality and a history of excessive force, Harrigan became the focal point of a hunt orchestrated by the 'City Hunter' Predator.
After the brutal murder of his partner Danny Archuleta, Harrigan defied both his superiors and the secretive OWLF task force to pursue the extraterrestrial killer through the city's slaughterhouse district and into the tunnels beneath the streets. He made history by infiltrating the Yautja Mother Ship and using the creature's own Smart Disc to execute it, earning the respect of the Elder Predator Greyback.
Following the Los Angeles incident, Harrigan's career remained storied but controversial. He eventually retired in 2022 after forty years of service, but his retirement was short-lived as he was pulled back into the conflict in Rio de Janeiro to face a 'Bad Blood' Predator. By 2025, his status as one of Earth's ultimate warriors was solidified when it was revealed he had been captured by a Yautja clan and placed into cryosleep. Now held on Yautja Prime, he remains a living trophy of the hunt, awaiting a potential release to fight alongside other legendary survivors like Dutch and Naru.
Storia
Mike Harrigan’s roots are deeply embedded in the streets of Los Angeles, where he grew up alongside his lifelong friend and eventual partner, Daniel 'Danny Boy' Archuleta.
The duo entered the police academy together, but as Harrigan rose through the ranks, his uncompromising and often violent methods caused friction with colleagues, including his former friend Phil Heinemann.
Despite his abrasive nature and a record that included destroying eleven patrol cars and a city bus, Harrigan’s 18-year tenure was marked by ten commendations for valor and the most successful felony arrest record in LAPD history. However, this dedication to the badge cost him his personal life, leading to a failed marriage and numerous fractured relationships. His career took a definitive turn when he realized the Colombian and Jamaican drug cartels were not just fighting each other, but were being systematically eradicated by an invisible, otherworldly force.
Evoluzione
Mike Harrigan’s character arc has transformed from a grounded, gritty urban detective into a mythic figure within the Predator multiverse. In 1990, he was presented as a high-stakes action hero defined by his street smarts and stubbornness.
By the 2017 short stories, he had transitioned into a wise but weary retired consultant, still capable of holding his own against extraterrestrial threats. The 'Disney Era' of the franchise (2024–2026) has further elevated him to an 'Interstellar Legend.' No longer just a survivor of the past, his placement in stasis alongside other franchise icons like Dutch and Naru repositions him as a timeless warrior, ready to be deployed in the future crossover events of the expanded Predator canon.
Da Collezione
For PopCave collectors, the search for Mike Harrigan begins with NECA. Their 30th Anniversary 'Predator 2' line features the definitive 7-inch Harrigan figure, boasting an impressive likeness of Danny Glover and essential accessories like the Smart Disc and Desert Eagle. However, the ultimate 'grail' remains the Hot Toys 1/6 Scale Michael Harrigan.
Released years ago, it is highly coveted for its authentic fabric costume and the inclusion of the Raphael Adolini 1715 flintlock pistol. Collectors should also look for the rare 1990 movie-tie-in figures from Kenner, which, while less accurate, hold significant vintage value. As Harrigan returns to the spotlight in recent animated media, demand for these legacy figures has seen a steady uptick on the secondary market.

Danny Glover was originally intended to return as Harrigan in the 2010 film 'Predators', but the role was rewritten as Ronald Noland.
