SQUALL LEONHART
Squall Leonhart, widely known by his pseudonym Leon, is a central figure in the Kingdom Hearts series and the leader of the Radiant Garden refugees. A formidable warrior wielding the Revolver Gunblade, he serves as a pivotal mentor to Sora and oversees the defense of his world against the Heartless.
Cronologia
Biografia
In the Kingdom Hearts universe, Leon is a 25-to-27-year-old warrior who acts as the stoic leader of the Heartless Resistance. Originally known as Squall Leonhart, he renounced his birth name out of shame after failing to protect his home world, Radiant Garden, from the darkness.
He first meets Sora in Traverse Town, where he tests the young Keyblade wielder's strength in combat before providing essential guidance on the nature of the Heartless and the Keyblade's role. Over the course of the series, Leon evolves from a withdrawn and brooding loner into a more cheerful and caring leader.
As the head of the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee, he coordinates efforts with other Final Fantasy characters like Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid to rebuild their world. Leon is distinguished as the only Final Fantasy character in the series to have a direct relationship with King Mickey and the only one to directly confront Organization XIII and the Nobodies.
Storia
Leon’s origins lie in the paradise of Radiant Garden. Nine years before the events of the first game, his world was consumed by darkness, forcing him and a few other survivors to flee to Traverse Town.
Deeply scarred by the loss, he vowed never to use the name 'Squall' again until his world was fully restored and the Heartless defeated.
During his exile, he took on a mentorship role, patrolling worlds in a Gummi Ship and eventually gaining the trust of King Mickey. His transition from a student of the Gunblade to a seasoned commander was fueled by his regret, leading him to establish the resistance that would eventually help Sora save the realm of light.
Evoluzione
Leon's character arc is defined by his journey from self-imposed isolation to community leadership. In the first Kingdom Hearts, his design featured long hair and a short-sleeved jacket with red wings, reflecting a more guarded personality.
By Kingdom Hearts II, his appearance shifted closer to his original Final Fantasy VIII look with shorter hair and the addition of a white fur collar to his jacket. This visual shift mirrors his internal change as he begins to smile more and regains hope, eventually leading the transition of his world's name from 'Hollow Bastion' back to 'Radiant Garden'.
Da Collezione
Leon is a staple of Square Enix's high-end collectible lines, most notably appearing in the Play Arts Kai and Bring Arts series, which are highly sought after for their articulation and Gunblade accessories.
His Kingdom Hearts II design, featuring the fur collar, remains the most popular variant among fans. As of 2026, the market has seen a surge in interest for 'Iconique Ear Object' jewelry and limited-edition Light-Up Keyblades, while premium figures capturing his 'Battle of the 1000 Heartless' pose alongside Cloud remain the ultimate grails for collectors.

The red Griever symbol on his KH1 shoulder and his silver Griever necklace are recurring motifs from his home world's lore.
