Overview

Produced by boutique pop-culture manufacturer Super7 under official license, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles product line caters to dedicated collectors with high-end, nostalgia-driven figures. The collection operates across two distinct product formats: the 7-inch scale ULTIMATES!

line and the 3.75-inch scale ReAction Figures line. Super7 positions the line as an authentic homage to TMNT history, combining modern sculpting techniques, premium paint applications, and high articulation with deep cuts from across the franchise.

Rather than reinventing character designs, Super7 faithfuly recreates the aesthetics of vintage 1980s and 1990s Playmates action figures, black-and-white Mirage Studios comic artwork, and iconic television adaptations. The ULTIMATES! figures come loaded with interchangeable parts, character-specific accessories, and nostalgic packaging details that appeal directly to veteran fans.

History

Super7 launched its licensed TMNT product range in September 2019 with the debut of the 7-inch ULTIMATES! line, followed in October 2019 by the 3.75-inch ReAction figure line. Across Waves 1 through 11, the ULTIMATES!

series concentrated on classic vintage Playmates toy designs, delivering highly detailed figures of main characters along with rare, fan-favorite mutants like Muckman, Slash, Mutagen Man, Ray Fillet, Wingnut, and Scratch.

In 2024 and 2025, Super7 shifted the design focus for Waves 12 and 13 to celebrate the 2003 TMNT Animated Series. This transition introduced 2003-styled sculpts for Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, Shredder, Splinter, Casey Jones, and Foot Soldiers featuring double-jointed articulation. Super7 continues to expand both lines into 2025 and 2026 with ongoing shipments and specialty Glow-in-the-Dark (GID) convention exclusives.

LO SAPEVI?Playmates Toys originally refused to produce the 1988 TMNT action figure line until a television deal was secured, leading to the creation of the 1987 animated series.

Collecting

Super7's TMNT figure lines occupy a unique place in the market by bridging vintage nostalgia with modern action figure engineering. For collectors, the ULTIMATES! series offers a definitive way to acquire figures that were either hard to find or limited in articulation during the original Playmates run, such as Scratch or Ray Fillet.

The inclusion of unpainted weapon trees provides an authentic retro touch prized by purists. From a market value perspective, limited-edition convention releases—specifically the SDCC and NYCC Glow-in-the-Dark (GID) variants like Baxter Stockman Fly, Mutagen Man, Scumbug, and Muckman—frequently maintain strong demand among collectors. With Super7 expanding into the 2003 animated era and continuing distribution through 2025–2026, collector interest spans multiple generations of TMNT fandom.

LO SAPEVI?In the UK, censorship required the 1987 TV show title to be changed to 'Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles', editing out Michelangelo's nunchuks from early broadcast footage.
