WCF
World Collectable Figure (WCF) is a long-running, stylized mini-figure product line manufactured by Banpresto (a subsidiary brand of Bandai Spirits). Standing approximately 7 to 8 cm tall, WCF figures feature a distinctive 1:4 super-deformed scale designed to capture the complete 'world' of major anime, manga, and pop culture franchises by including both main heroes and obscure background characters.

Panoramica
World Collectable Figure (WCF) is a flagship line of non-articulated, pre-painted PVC mini-figures manufactured by Banpresto, under Bandai Spirits and the Bandai Namco Group.
Standing approximately 7 to 8 cm (2.7 to 3.2 inches) tall, each figure mounts onto a signature colored circular or square plastic base with peg supports, where the base color often identifies a specific release series or wave. What sets WCF apart from traditional figure lines is its holistic world-building strategy.
Rather than limiting releases to central protagonists and popular villains, WCF was created to represent the complete ecosystem of an intellectual property. The line is celebrated among collectors for giving standalone sculpts to minor, background, supporting, and comedic characters that rarely receive merchandise in any other toy line. Originally distributed as Japanese arcade prizes obtainable through UFO catchers and crane games, WCF has expanded globally through specialty retail shops, Ichiban Kuji lotteries, and direct online pre-orders via Premium Bandai. Figures are packaged in blindless individual boxes clearly displaying the character inside.
Storia
The foundations of WCF were laid in January 2009 with DWC (Dragon Ball World Collectable), a line exclusively dedicated to Dragon Ball. Spearheaded by Banpresto planning managers Norihiko Sakata and Mari Sase, the project aimed to revolutionize arcade prizes from secondary novelties into high-tier collectibles.
To prove the line's viability, Banpresto executed a massive launch campaign of 88 figures at once across 11 monthly volumes, assembling a team of 20 to 30 sculptors to ensure high aesthetic consistency. The line rebranded to World Collectable Figure (WCF) in November 2009, debuting alongside Dragon Ball Kai and One Piece Film: Strong World.
Following huge commercial success across One Piece and Dragon Ball, Banpresto began expanding the WCF formula in 2012 to other high-profile intellectual properties, including Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Naruto, Tiger & Bunny, and Gundam. Over the years, WCF branched out beyond Japanese anime into Western pop culture (Marvel's Iron Man, Disney, Star Wars), video games (Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Kingdom Hearts, DBZ Dokkan Battle), and real-world pop culture icons. The brand has continuously innovated its format with specialized sub-lines, introducing Mega WCF (~13–14 cm oversized figures), multi-part GIGA WCF combination sets, and the 2023 WCF Log Stories series, which presents fixed diorama bases recreating iconic storytelling scenes.
I PEZZI DI WCF
Collezionismo
For figure collectors, World Collectable Figure is the ultimate completionist line. Its primary value lies in its unmatched character selection; while most figure lines only produce main protagonists, WCF creates complete rosters, making standalone figures for minor background characters—such as Charlos, Spandine, and Navy admirals—that exist in no other line.
From a market standpoint, early WCF releases have become high-value grail items in the secondary market. Volumes from the original 2009 Strong World movie series, early One Piece TV sets, and event-exclusive raffle sets from the 2012 Deformation Expo command significant premiums due to low production numbers and limited distribution channels. Premium Bandai exclusives, multi-pack sets, and specialized sub-lines like Log Stories continue to drive interest among collectors seeking compact, display-friendly dioramas.

In 2011, Banpresto ran a fan campaign allowing collectors to vote on characters to be made into figures, resulting in sculpts for obscure characters like Saint Charlos and Chouchou the dog.
