Panoramica

DC Primal Age is a retro-style action figure line produced by Funko in official partnership with DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Standing at a 5.5-inch scale, the collection reimagines classic DC Comics heroes and super-villains—including Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Joker—as muscular barbarian warriors set in a sword-and-sorcery fantasy realm.
Released as an offshoot of Funko's broader Savage World imprint, the line serves as a direct homage to classic 1980s 5.5-inch heavy-metal action figure lines such as Mattel's Masters of the Universe and Remco toys.
Storia

The line debuted in October 2018 at New York Comic Con with its initial wave of figures, beast mounts, and a stone fortress playset, supported by a retro 1980s Saturday morning cartoon-style animated commercial.
In January 2019, DC Comics expanded the lore by publishing the Target-exclusive DC Primal Age 100-Page Giant #1 comic, featuring stories by veteran creators Marv Wolfman, Jerry Ordway, and Louise Simonson.
Wave 2 was unveiled at the London Toy Fair in January 2019 and released in March 2019. Funko concluded the line in mid-2019 as it shifted focus away from the Savage World format, leaving behind a compact two-wave collection.

Collezionismo
DC Primal Age occupies a specialized niche for collectors who appreciate 1980s retro toy design and alternate-universe DC memorabilia.
Because the line was discontinued in mid-2019 after only two waves and a single playset, completing a full collection is relatively achievable compared to longer-running lines. Key items for collectors on the secondary market include the NYCC-exclusive Mr. Freeze figure and the Primal Batcave playset, which stands as the definitive display centerpiece for the line.

The Primal Batcave playset featured a skull facade that heavily paid tribute to classic 1980s playsets like Masters of the Universe's Castle Grayskull.
