Cronologia
Panoramica

DC Essentials is a 1:10 scale (approximately 6.75 to 7 inches tall) comic-book action figure line originally created by DC Collectibles, the manufacturing arm of DC Comics.
Unveiled as the official successor to the DC Comics Icons series, the line was positioned to offer collectors highly detailed representations of core DC Universe heroes and villains based on modern comic art, particularly the DC Rebirth era and iconic storylines.
Produced by DC Collectibles (later rebranded as DC Direct) and distributed by McFarlane Toys during its final wave releases, DC Essentials stood out for its commitment to articulation and standardized scale. Built using universal body bucks engineered by sculptor Paul Harding with art direction inspired by artist Jason Fabok, the figures were crafted to fit seamlessly together in grand comic displays.
Storia

The groundwork for the line began in 2015 with a bridge line titled DC Comics Essentials, which offered repackaged The New 52 figures along with a deluxe Swamp Thing.
However, the standalone DC Essentials line was formally announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and launched in mid-2018 with Wave 1, featuring Rebirth designs for Batman, Deathstroke, The Flash, and Reverse-Flash.
Over the next four years, the line expanded from Rebirth roster staples into classic story arcs, including the popular Knightfall Batman and Catwoman variants, as well as companion 2-packs centered on the Doomsday Clock event. In 2020, following WarnerMedia restructuring and a distribution partnership with McFarlane Toys, the line shifted focus to the zombie-apocalypse event series DCeased. Featuring battle-damaged sculpts on the core Essentials buck, the series ran until late 2022, concluding with figure #38 (DCeased Batgirl) before McFarlane Toys shifted primary focus to its native 7-inch DC Multiverse line.
I PEZZI DI ESSENTIAL
Collezionismo
For comic purists and action figure display builders, DC Essentials fills a specific niche in 1:10 scale collecting. Its primary draw lies in the harmony of its shared articulation buck, allowing figures to achieve dynamic action poses without sacrificing comic-book proportions.
Because the line officially ended at figure #38 in late 2022, completing a full numbered collection has become a rewarding goal for enthusiasts. On the secondary market, values for standard releases remain accessible, but specific figures have seen significant appreciation. Standouts such as Knightfall Catwoman, Knightfall Batman, Red Hood, and late-run DCeased figures like Red Hood and Deathstroke often command premium prices due to limited production runs and high demand among DC completists.

A precursor line in 2015 titled DC Comics Essentials was created to repackage The New 52 figures alongside a massive Deluxe Swamp Thing.
