Cronologia
Panoramica

DC Direct is a specialized collectible brand created to serve direct-market comic book specialty stores and adult collectors.
Originally founded and operated directly by DC Comics, the line is currently managed, produced, and distributed by McFarlane Toys under a master licensing agreement established with Warner Bros. Consumer Products in July 2021.
Unlike standard mass-market toy lines, DC Direct focuses on high-end craftsmanship, artistic fidelity, and specific story-arc representations. The brand encompasses multiple product categories, including 1:10 scale polyresin statues, 6-inch and 7-inch highly articulated action figures, 5-inch retro figures, and full-scale prop replicas. By translating iconic comic artwork, animated shows, video games, and feature films into physical collectibles, DC Direct occupies a premier, insider-focused position in the collector market.
Storia

DC Direct was launched by DC Comics in 1998 to fill a growing demand among direct-market comic shops for collector-grade action figures and statues. The brand debuted with non-traditional properties like MAD Magazine's Spy vs. Spy before expanding into DC Vertigo titles in 1999 and mainstream superhero comic arcs such as Hard-Traveling Heroes and The New Teen Titans in 2000.
Throughout the 2000s, the line released landmark series based on Alex Ross's Kingdom Come artwork, Jim Lee's Batman: Hush, and the enduring Batman: Black & White statue line launched in 2005.
In April 2012, under executive Geoff Johns, DC Direct was rebranded as DC Collectibles to broaden digital sales and retail reach, debuting articulated lines like DC Icons and DC Essentials alongside media tie-ins for the Arrowverse and the Batman: Arkham video games. Early in 2020, the division reverted to its original DC Direct name and celebrated its 100th Batman: Black & White statue, before corporate restructuring at WarnerMedia led to the internal division being shuttered in August 2020. In July 2021, McFarlane Toys assumed operational control of the line, continuing iconic statue series while launching new lines like DC Page Punchers and retro Super Powers figures into 2026.
I PEZZI DI DC DIRECT
Collezionismo
DC Direct holds a unique position in action figure and statue collecting due to its history of direct editorial alignment with DC Comics and its commitment to artist fidelity. Because early releases were targeted specifically at comic book specialty shops rather than high-volume retail, production runs were curated for adult collectors, resulting in high secondary-market demand for complete sets and key artist waves.
Core statue collections like *Batman: Black & White* and *DC Bombshells* remain premier flagship lines, with early sculpts and milestone pieces holding solid grail status among completists. Under McFarlane Toys' direction, collectible value has stayed vibrant; vintage-style revivals like the 5-inch *Super Powers* line appeal directly to retro enthusiasts, while physical comic pack-ins like *Page Punchers* create brand-new crossover appeal for readers and figure collectors alike.

In 2022, McFarlane Toys used the DC Direct banner to revive the classic 1980s Kenner Super Powers 5-inch aesthetic and packaging.
