Panoramica
The G.I. Joe Classified Series is a 6-inch scale (1:12) action figure line produced by Hasbro, representing a major collector-focused evolution for the G.I. Joe brand. Launched in 2020, the line marked the first time in franchise history that G.I.
Joe transitioned away from its traditional 3.75-inch (1:18) and 12-inch (1:6) formats in favor of modern 6-inch articulation, detailed sculpting, screen-accurate materials, and extensive accessories. Positioned as a flagship line for adult collectors, Classified Series figures feature entirely newly-tooled sculpts and gear.
The line encompasses standard numbered main-line releases, retailer exclusives for Target and Walmart, dedicated sub-teams (such as Tiger Force, Python Patrol, and Night Force), a vintage 1980s-inspired Retro Cardback series, and a 60th Anniversary sub-line honoring the original 1964 military figure line. In addition to figures, the series includes large 1:12 scale vehicles crowdfunded through Hasbro's HasLab platform, including the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank, Dragonfly Copter, Cobra Rattler Jet, and Snow C.A.T. Crossing over 250 releases by late 2026, it stands as the definitive modern G.I. Joe toy line.
Storia
Originally conceived as a merchandise tie-in for the 2020 video game G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, the Classified Series officially debuted in 2020 with figure #00 Deluxe Snake Eyes, followed by wave 1 mainlines and Target-exclusive Cobra Island figures.
Initial releases featured sci-fi and Nerf-inspired design elements, but strong collector feedback prompted Hasbro to execute a major course-correction in 2021 toward classic A Real American Hero (ARAH) aesthetics. In 2021, dedicated movie figures for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins were added to the lineup.
Hasbro expanded the series in 2022 by introducing vintage 1980s blister-carded Retro Collection figures and funding its first HasLab vehicle project, the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank. Following the delivery of the H.I.S.S. Tank in 2023, subsequent HasLabs funded the Dragonfly Copter, Cobra Rattler, and 2026 Snow C.A.T. In 2024, the line debuted its 60th Anniversary sub-line celebrating the original 1964 G.I. Joe figure heritage. By late 2026, the line crossed 250 releases and expanded into pop culture crossovers like Tomb Raider's Lara Croft.

Collezionismo
The G.I. Joe Classified Series is one of the most prominent collector lines in the modern action figure market. By translating over 60 years of lore into the popular 1:12 scale, Hasbro successfully captured both nostalgic vintage enthusiasts and contemporary action figure collectors. Value trends indicate strong aftermarket demand for early store exclusives, convention exclusives, and troop builders. Key grails—such as #00 Deluxe Snake Eyes, SDCC Dr.
Mindbender, Serpentor with Air Chariot, and early Cobra Island exclusives—routinely command premium prices on secondary markets. Furthermore, crowdfunded HasLab projects like the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank and Cobra Rattler serve as high-value centerpieces that see sustained appreciation after funding windows close. With continuous expansion across sub-teams like Tiger Force and Night Force, as well as vintage Retro Cardback variants, the line retains high long-term collecting potential.
The 60th Anniversary sub-line commemorates the original 1964 12-inch line that coined the term 'action figure.'
