Cronologia
Panoramica
The Alien franchise originated in 1979 with Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett's seminal film directed by Ridley Scott.
Over more than four decades, the IP has grown into a vast transmedia universe encompassing nine feature films (including prequels, sequels, interquels, and crossovers), its first full-length live-action television series Alien: Earth, web series, and dozens of canonical novels, comic runs, and video games.
Produced under 20th Century Studios (now part of Disney), the franchise explores themes of corporate exploitation, synthetic intelligence, biological horror, and human survival across several centuries.
Origini
The franchise was conceived by writers Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, premiering with the 1979 feature film Alien directed by Ridley Scott.
The original film follows the crew of the commercial towing vessel USCSS Nostromo as they investigate an apparent distress signal on planetoid LV-426, leading to the discovery of an alien derelict craft, facehugger parasites, and the terrifying Xenomorph XX121.
The immense critical and commercial success led to James Cameron's action-horror sequel Aliens (1986), David Fincher's Alien 3 (1992), and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Alien Resurrection (1997), establishing Ellen Ripley's multi-generational battle against Weyland-Yutani and the alien species.

Collezionismo
For media collectors and franchise enthusiasts, Alien represents one of the richest expanded universes in sci-fi history.
Key collectibles span vintage software releases, such as the original 1982 Atari 2600 game cartridge and the 1987 Japan-exclusive MSX title Aliens: Alien 2.
In literature, sought-after items include original first-print runs of Dark Horse Comics from 1988 onwards—starting with Aliens: Outbreak—as well as Marvel's ongoing comic series and hardcovers of Titan Books' canonical novel trilogy. Physical media collectors also prioritize rare vintage console entries like 1996's Alien Trilogy and 2000's PlayStation survival horror pioneer Alien Resurrection.

Director Ridley Scott mapped out a third prequel film titled Alien: Awakening, which was planned to follow the android David to planet LV-428.
