Biografia

James "Logan" Howlett, best known by his codename Wolverine, is a mutant superhero and staple member of Marvel's X-Men. Born in late 19th-century Canada, Logan possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical attributes, a powerful regenerative healing factor, and six retractable claws.

Throughout his long life, he has served as a soldier, mercenary, bodyguard, and superhero, operating both as an unpredictable lone warrior and as a core leader for mutantkind. Wolverine's narrative is defined by his continuous struggle between his feral violent instincts and his deep personal sense of honor.

Subjected to the military's Weapon X Program at Alkali Lake, his skeleton and organic bone claws were forcibly fused with indestructible Adamantium metal, and his memories were wiped. Despite his gruff exterior and brutal reputation, Logan acts as a fierce protector, mentor to younger mutants like Laura Kinney and Jubilee, and an indispensable force across the Marvel Universe.

LO SAPEVI?When Magneto forcefully extracted the Adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton in 1993, it was revealed that his claws were originally organic bone.

Storia

Born as James Howlett in Canada during the late 19th century, Logan discovered his mutant abilities when organic bone claws first emerged from his hands. Over the following decades, he lived through various global conflicts and worked multiple jobs, including serving as a bodyguard for the mafia in 1973.

His life was permanently altered when he was captured by Colonel William Stryker and the U.S. Army's Weapon X Program at the Alkali Lake facility. At Alkali Lake, military scientists performed brutal experiments on Logan, lacing his skeleton and organic bone claws with indestructible Adamantium metal and wiping his memory.

A few days after the tenth anniversary of his retrieval, Logan was set free from his cell when visiting mutant teenagers helped trigger fragments of his lost past telepathically. Escaping into the snowy wilderness as a feral survivor, he was eventually found and recruited by Professor Charles Xavier to join the X-Men, where he set out to uncover his true past while defending mutants and humanity.

LO SAPEVI?Wolverine's iconic catchphrase, 'I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn't very nice,' first appeared in his 1982 solo miniseries written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

Evoluzione

Wolverine's journey across comic books, television, and film represents one of the most dynamic character evolutions in popular culture. Originally introduced in 1974 as a localized antagonist fighting the Hulk, Logan was expanded by Len Wein, Chris Claremont, and Frank Miller into a complex anti-hero defined by a tragic past, animalistic rage, and a strict samurai-style honor code. His connection to Japan and lone-wolf persona in Madripoor transformed him into Marvel's premier solo star during the 1980s and 1990s.

Over the decades, his role shifted from a cynical loner to a core leader, mentor, and pillar of the X-Men. Major comic events continually reshaped his mythology—from Magneto stripping his Adamantium to reveal organic bone claws in 1993, to the formal revelation of his birth name James Howlett in 2001, and his tragic death and Krakoan resurrection. In cinematic media, Hugh Jackman's portrayal redefined Wolverine for global audiences, evolving the character from an elusive mutant transient into a legendary hero whose journey spans gritty dystopian drama in Logan to multiversal blockbuster team-ups in Deadpool & Wolverine.

LO SAPEVI?Before adopting the mantle of Wolverine herself, Laura Kinney (X-23) was created as a clone-daughter from Logan's genetic material.

Da Collezione

For high-end action figure and statue collectors, Wolverine is an evergreen grail character with unmatched representation across every major collectible manufacturer. Top-tier brands such as Hasbro (Marvel Legends line), MAFEX, S.H.Figuarts, Hot Toys, and Sideshow Collectibles continuously produce sought-after figures covering his comic and live-action history.

Among 1/12 scale action figure enthusiasts, MAFEX's comic-accurate yellow-and-blue tiger stripe and brown suit figures are highly praised for articulation, while Hasbro's retro carded Marvel Legends remain staple display pieces. In the premium high-end market, Hot Toys sixth-scale figures based on Hugh Jackman's cinematic appearances—including movie-accurate releases for Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine—command premium secondary-market values. Likewise, 1/4 and 1/3 scale statues by Sideshow Collectibles representing classic comic covers are true centerpiece grails. Value trends for Wolverine collectibles remain exceptionally strong, propelled by continuous landmark game and movie launches like Marvel's Wolverine on PlayStation 5 and X-Men '97.

LO SAPEVI?During his ongoing solo comic runs in the late 1980s, Wolverine operated in the crime-ridden city of Madripoor under the covert alias 'Patch'.
