Tony Tony Chopper, commonly known by his epithet "Cotton Candy Lover" Chopper, is a reindeer and the dedicated doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Born on Drum Island in the Grand Line, Chopper gained human intelligence, speech, and transformation abilities after eating the Hito Hito no Mi (Human-Human Fruit).
Despite his small stature and naive demeanor, he serves as a senior officer on the crew and is an exceptionally skilled medical professional trained by Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha. Chopper's primary dream is to fulfill Dr. Hiriluk's belief that there is no incurable disease by becoming a doctor capable of healing any illness. Naive, timid, and easily awed by cannons and beams like Luffy, Chopper strongly adheres to the Hippocratic Oath. He becomes furious whenever someone disrespects human life or uses artificial diseases as weapons, and he readily risks his life to protect his crewmates and patients.
Storia
Born on Drum Island, Chopper was cast out by his reindeer herd due to his unusual blue nose. His isolation worsened after eating the Hito Hito no Mi, as his newfound human intelligence and hybrid transformations caused both reindeer and humans to reject him as a terrifying monster.
Humans shot at him until he was rescued by Dr. Hiriluk, an eccentric quack doctor who took him in as a son and assistant. Hiriluk introduced Chopper to the concept of piracy and the noble meaning behind a pirate's flag.
After Hiriluk tragically died—sacrificing himself while shielding Chopper from the guilt of mistakenly feeding him a poisonous mushroom—Chopper was taken in by Dr. Kureha. Under Kureha's strict guidance, Chopper spent years mastering medical science. When Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates arrived on Drum Island to treat Nami, Luffy befriended Chopper and invited him to join the crew as their official doctor after defeating the tyrant Wapol.

Initially, Chopper suffered from low self-esteem caused by years of rejection, viewing his transformations as monstrous traits and fighting primarily out of self-defense. He relied heavily on his crewmates for emotional guidance and imitated Usopp's behavior to fit in.
Following the two-year timeskip, Chopper matured significantly after studying botanical medicine in the Torino Kingdom. He discarded his desire to look human, proudly declaring that he wanted to "be a monster that can help Luffy." He gained full control over his devastating Monster Point transformation and built the resolve to directly engage high-tier threats like Big Mom, Queen, and Elder Jaygarcia Saturn.
