Cronologia
Biografia

Timon is a slim adult meerkat characterized by tan fur, red-coral hair, a dark brown nose, and large black eyes. He is the best friend of Pumbaa the warthog, the son of Ma, the nephew of Uncle Max, and an adoptive father figure to Simba.
Alongside Pumbaa, Timon rescues a heat-exhausted Simba in the desert, teaches him a diet of bugs and grubs, and raises him under the carefree philosophy of 'Hakuna Matata' so the young lion will not eat them.
Although Timon can be self-centered, thoughtless, and prone to claiming Pumbaa's smart ideas as his own, he possesses a good heart and deep loyalty. When Simba returns to challenge Scar, Timon pledges his support to the end, using creative tactics like dancing the hula to distract hyenas at Pride Rock. He later acts as a babysitter to Simba's daughter Kiara and co-parents an adopted honey badger named Bunga.
Storia

Timon's origin story has two distinct portrayals in Disney media. In the animated series Timon & Pumbaa (in the episode 'Once Upon a Timon'), he lived in a colony ruled by Duke Meerkat. While on guard duty, Timon abandoned his post to talk to his crush, Princess Tatiana, allowing a snake to kidnap her.
Exiled for his negligence, Timon befriended fellow outcast Pumbaa, rescued Tatiana, but ultimately chose a life of 'Hakuna Matata' with Pumbaa over marrying into the royal family. In The Lion King 1½, Timon belonged to a colony of meerkats that dug underground tunnels to hide from hyenas.
Unsuited for tunneling, Timon was assigned sentry duty, but his daydreaming allowed hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed to invade. Scorned by his colony and Uncle Max, Timon left home with his mother's blessing to find a place without fear or digging, eventually meeting Rafiki and befriending Pumbaa along his journey.
I PEZZI DI TIMON
Evoluzione
Timon's concept evolved significantly during production. In early script drafts, Timon and Pumbaa were childhood friends of Simba from the Pride Lands. Filmmakers changed them to outcasts so Simba would have mentors to take him under their wing after his exile. Actor Nathan Lane originally auditioned for Zazu and a hyena; during sessions with Ernie Sabella, their natural dynamic convinced directors to cast them together as Timon and Pumbaa.
Uniquely for Disney animation, Lane and Sabella recorded their dialogue together in the same room. Over the decades, Timon expanded across formats. On television, Kevin Schon primarily voiced Timon for *Timon & Pumbaa* and *The Lion Guard*. In 1997, the Broadway musical re-imagined Timon via puppetry engineered for actor Max Casella. For the 2019 photorealistic remake, comedian Billy Eichner brought a modern, improvisational style to the role, which he reprised in 2024's *Mufasa: The Lion King* as a framing-device narrator.
Da Collezione
Timon remains a staple character across Disney merchandise, theme park meet-and-greets, and media releases.
His active presence is maintained globally through official Disney Parks merchandise, video game appearances, and digital releases on Disney+.

Timon successfully routed Zira's Outsiders by aiming Pumbaa's tail like a loaded gun and threatening them with Pumbaa's odor.
