Biografia

Greer Grant Nelson is a super-powered hero in the Marvel Universe (Earth-616). Originally operating as the costumed vigilante known as "The Cat," she later underwent a mystical transformation into Tigra, a feline-humanoid hybrid with tiger-striped fur, claws, fangs, and enhanced feline senses.
Powered by the mystical Cat's Head Amulet, she can alternate between human and feline forms, though she spends most of her time as Tigra. Throughout her heroic career, Tigra has been a prominent member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
After serving on the main Avengers roster, she became a charter member of the West Coast Avengers assembled by Hawkeye. Beyond her superhero duties, she has worked as an undercover police officer in New York City, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., an instructor at the Avengers Academy, and an Underground resistance fighter during Hydra's takeover of the United States.
Storia

Born in Chicago, Illinois to Gregson and Janet Grant, Greer Grant dropped out of her sophomore year of college to marry policeman William Nelson. When her husband was fatally shot during a robbery, Greer faced financial hardship and became a laboratory assistant to her former college professor, Dr. Joanne Tumolo. Seeking to fund her research, Dr.
Tumolo accepted private backing from Malcolm Donalbain. Greer secretly underwent Dr. Tumolo's experimental physical conditioning, gaining peak human capabilities, and briefly operated as the costumed hero "The Cat" after thwarting Donalbain's criminal plot. Later, Dr.
Tumolo was targeted by Hydra for possessing an ancient bacterial culture known as "The Black Death." During the conflict, Dr. Tumolo was revealed to be a member of the Cat People, an ancient race of humanoid felines created during the Middle Ages. When Greer was mortally wounded by Hydra's alpha radiation, Dr. Tumolo and the Cat People performed a mystical ritual that bound Greer's soul to one of their legendary feline warriors, saving her life and permanently mutating her into Tigra.
I PEZZI DI TIGRA
Evoluzione
Greer Nelson's publication history reflects a significant evolution over five decades. Debuting in 1972 as "The Cat," she was initially conceived as part of a 1970s Marvel initiative for female-led titles, relying on high-tech gadgets and physical training to fight local street crime in Chicago. In 1974, she was revamped into Tigra, shifting her character from sci-fi vigilante to supernatural human-feline hybrid.
Her operational scale expanded dramatically in the 1980s when she joined the main Avengers and subsequently became a charter member of the West Coast Avengers in 1984. During this era, writers explored the internal conflict between her human intellect and her animalistic cat-soul instincts, an arc resolved when she journeyed to the Cat People's "Land Within." In later years, Tigra transitioned through diverse roles, including NYPD police cadet, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent during *Civil War*, mother to her son William, teacher at the Avengers Academy, and member of the anti-Hydra Underground resistance.
