Together, they fight to defend Earth against the alien conqueror Ming the Merciless. While keeping his primary base of operations in the Bangalla jungle, the 27th Phantom balances his ancient jungle guardianship with global defense missions. He also trains his teenage daughter, Jedda Walker, who is prepared to break tradition and potentially succeed him as the 28th Phantom.
Storia
The lineage of the Phantom began in 1536 when young Christopher Walker survived a brutal pirate attack off the coast of Bangalla that claimed his father's life.
Washing ashore, Christopher swore a sacred oath upon the skull of his father's killer, vowing to dedicate his life and the lives of his descendants to destroying piracy, greed, cruelty, and injustice.
This oath founded a multi-century tradition where the mantle passes from father to son, giving enemies the impression of an immortal guardian operating out of the Skull Cave. In the Defenders of the Earth continuity, Kit Walker carries on this legacy as the 27th Phantom. Supported by the pygmy Bandar Tribe who maintain the secret of his cave and equipment, Kit upholds the family oath while managing unique personal struggles, including his complex relationship with his estranged older brother, Kurt Walker.
