Cronologia
Biografia

Steven Grant 'Steve Rogers' is the primary hero known as Captain America within Earth-616 continuity. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, during the Great Depression, Rogers was initially a frail youth driven by an uncompromising moral code and a deep conviction to oppose fascism. Rejected by the military due to his physical limitations, his determination caught the attention of Dr. Abraham Erskine, who selected him as the test subject for Project Rebirth.
Injected with the Super-Soldier Serum and bombarded with Vita-Rays, Rogers was transformed into the ultimate human specimen. Equipped with his iconic star-spangled suit and a unique Vibranium-alloy shield, Rogers served on the front lines of World War II alongside his sidekick Bucky Barnes and combat allies like the Invaders. Near the end of the conflict in 1945, a high-stakes mission resulted in Rogers being thrown into freezing Arctic waters, putting him in suspended animation for decades.
Resurrected in the modern era by the Avengers, he quickly assumed leadership of the team, standing as a living legend and guiding Earth's heroes through Earth-bound and cosmic threats. Throughout his heroics, Rogers' dedication to freedom has placed him in conflict with evil organizations such as Hydra as well as political corruption within his own government. When forced to choose between government mandates and his core principles, Rogers has repeatedly abandoned his shield to adopt alternative heroic identities like Nomad and The Captain, reaffirming his loyalty to the ideal of liberty above all else.
Storia

Growing up as an impoverished, sickly orphan in 1930s Brooklyn, Steve Rogers developed a fierce determination to protect the vulnerable. As Axis aggression escalated into World War II, Rogers attempted to enlist in the United States military multiple times but was rejected due to his frailty and numerous medical conditions.
His persistence caught the eye of military scientist Dr. Abraham Erskine, who recruited him into Project Rebirth as the prime subject for the Super-Soldier Serum. The experiment successfully enhanced Rogers' physical capabilities to peak human performance. However, immediately after the procedure, a Nazi spy assassinated Dr.
Erskine, leaving Rogers as the sole individual empowered by the original serum. Beyond his modern origin, Marvel continuity reveals that Steve shares a legacy with his colonial ancestor, Captain Steven Rogers (Earth-616), who fought in the Revolutionary War alongside figures like Ulysses Bloodstone before falling in battle in 1783.

Evoluzione
Debuting in 1940 as an overt patriotic propaganda symbol designed to boost American morale during WWII, Steve Rogers began his publication history punching Adolf Hitler on the cover of Captain America Comics #1. Following the war, the character faded from popularity and briefly transitioned into a Cold War 'Commie Smasher' in the early 1950s—an era later retconned in 1972 as the work of an unhinged imposter named William Burnside to keep Rogers' core heroic identity untainted. In 1964, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby dramatically redefined Rogers in The Avengers #4 by retrieving him from the ice.
Awakened in a world decades ahead of his own, Steve evolved into a tragic 'man out of time.' During the 1970s and 1980s, his character arc reflected changing sociopolitical realities. Disillusionment with government corruption in 1974's Secret Empire led him to cast aside his shield and become Nomad, while a refusal to serve directly under military command in 1987 transformed him into 'The Captain.' In modern storylines, Steve Rogers' complexity deepened through Ed Brubaker's 2005 run with the return of Bucky as the Winter Soldier, his ideological clash with Iron Man over civil liberties in Civil War (2006), his temporary assassination and time displacement, and his transformation into a Hydra loyalist ('Hydra Cap') during 2017's Secret Empire. Across comics, Chris Evans' landmark MCU performance, and recent video games like Marvel Rivals, Steve Rogers has evolved from WWII propaganda soldier into Marvel's ultimate moral compass.
