Setsuna F. Seiei, born Soran Ibrahim, is the central protagonist of the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 franchise. A former child soldier turned Gundam Meister for the private paramilitary organization Celestial Being, he eventually evolves into humanity's first True Innovator and a bridge for mutual understanding between different lifeforms.

Setsuna F. Seiei is the primary Gundam Meister for Celestial Being, an organization dedicated to the eradication of war through armed intervention. Born as Soran Ibrahim in the war-torn Republic of Krugis, he was raised as a child soldier before being recruited to pilot the GN-001 Gundam Exia.
Taciturn and introverted, Setsuna is driven by a deep-seated desire to find a path toward world peace, often questioning the existence of God while viewing the Gundams as a manifestation of salvation itself.
Throughout the conflict between Celestial Being and the world's major powers, Setsuna transitions from a cold, detached warrior into a decisive leader. He believes that the world can only achieve harmony if the sources of conflict are addressed, and he famously adopts the mantra 'I am Gundam' to represent his total devotion to being an instrument of peace. His journey eventually leads him to become the first 'True Innovator,' a human with evolved quantum brainwaves capable of facilitating deep mutual understanding.
Storia
Soran Ibrahim was born in 2291 A.D. in the Republic of Krugis. His childhood was shattered when he was brainwashed by the mercenary Ali al-Saachez into joining the KPSA, an anti-government guerrilla organization. Under Saachez's influence, Soran was forced to murder his own parents to prove his devotion to God.
By the age of 10, he was a battle-hardened guerrilla participating in suicide missions and terrorist acts, including a bombing in Ireland that decimated the family of Neil Dylandy (the future Lockon Stratos). In 2301 A.D., as Krugis faced total defeat against Azadistan, Soran was cornered by enemy forces and prepared for death.
He was saved by the sudden intervention of the GN-000 0 Gundam, which appeared in the sky like an angel with green light wings. As the sole survivor of the battle, Soran became disillusioned with religion but remained obsessed with the machine that saved him. In 2302 A.D., he was selected by Veda, the supercomputer of Celestial Being, to become a Gundam Meister under the codename Setsuna F. Seiei.
Evoluzione
Setsuna's evolution is one of the most radical in the Gundam multiverse. He begins as a traumatized, taciturn 16-year-old whose only identity is 'Meister.' By the end of the first season, the loss of comrades and the collapse of Celestial Being forces him to find a personal reason to fight beyond just following orders.
In Season 2, he takes an unofficial leadership role, showing a newfound capacity for empathy and inspiration. His physical evolution into an Innovator marks a turning point where he moves from 'eradicating conflict' to 'fighting for a better future.' Finally, in the 2314 ELS conflict, he transcends humanity entirely, merging with an alien consciousness to become a peace-seeking hybrid, eventually returning to Earth decades later as an eternal, metallic-skinned messenger of understanding.
