RESISTANCE X‑WING FIGHTER
The Resistance X-Wing Fighter refers to both the iconic T-70 X-wing starfighter pilot corps serving General Leia Organa's Resistance and a playable character unit across Star Wars video games and toy lines. Designed by Incom-FreiTek as an advancement over the galactic civil war-era T-65B, these skilled pilots and their starfighters played a crucial role in defeating the First Order during the Battle of Takodana, the destruction of Starkiller Base, and the Battle of Exegol.
Cronologia
Biografia

The Resistance X-wing pilots constitute the primary starfighter force of General Leia Organa's Resistance in its war against the First Order. Flying the advanced Incom-FreiTek T-70 X-wing starfighter, the pilot corps is composed of dedicated volunteers, former New Republic aviators, and anti-authoritarian sympathizers.
Operating under the command of Poe Dameron (Black Leader), these aviators organized into strike units such as Red, Blue, and Black Squadrons, undertaking high-stakes combat and reconnaissance missions throughout the galaxy. Throughout the Sequel Era, Resistance X-wing pilots spearheaded major defensive and offensive military actions.
They provided air support at the Battle of Takodana, led the critical strike that destroyed Starkiller Base, and covered the Resistance fleet's retreat during the Battle of D'Qar. Despite severe casualties suffered during the war—including the near-total destruction of their starfighters aboard the flagship Raddus—surviving pilots re-assembled under the leadership of Poe Dameron and Snap Wexley following the Battle of Crait. In the final conflict of the war, Resistance X-wing pilots flew alongside a massive civilian armada at the Battle of Exegol. Their decisive attack against the Sith Eternal fleet marked the ultimate victory for the Resistance Starfighter Corps, solidifying the T-70 pilot legacy as the heroic successor to the Rebel Alliance aviators.
Storia

The origin of the Resistance X-wing fighter lies in the Rebel Alliance's classic T-65B starfighter. Following the Galactic Civil War, Incom-FreiTek developed the T-70 X-wing for the New Republic Navy. At least one prototype was active around 5 ABY, flown by Yrica Quell during a mission to Coruscant near the time of the Battle of Jakku.
Incorporating new advances in miniaturization, the T-70 was built with heavier armor, superior sensors, and calibrated retro thrusters. However, following the New Republic's Military Disarmament Act and widespread corruption, production was restricted to a few connected shipbuilders who sold the craft to planetary defense forces.
As the New Republic military transitioned to the newer T-85 X-wing, older T-70 models became cheap and accessible. General Leia Organa's underfunded Resistance appropriated these surplus fighters, supplemented by covert donations from sympathetic Galactic Senators. Faster, cheaper, and more versatile than the First Order's TIE fighters, the T-70 became the backbone of Resistance defense.

Evoluzione
The Resistance X-Wing Fighter evolved both technically in-universe and conceptually in real-world production. In-universe, the T-70 was designed as a modern upgrade to the classic T-65B, integrating post-war miniaturization, split-engine turbines with built-in electromagnetic gyros, superior sensors, and enhanced cockpit armor. While briefly deployed by the New Republic, its status shifted when it was phased out for the T-85, causing it to become the signature craft of General Leia Organa's underfunded Resistance.
Individual ships underwent specialized retrofits over time, such as Poe Dameron's experimental thruster booster pod added during the Battle of D'Qar. Behind the scenes, the physical model evolved directly from early concept art for *Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens*. Film concept designers inadvertently recreated Ralph McQuarrie’s original 1970s concept drawings for *A New Hope*, featuring split engine intakes that form a single circle when S-foils are closed. Realized through full-size physical set mockups and CGI, the design expanded across literature, animated television, and collectible lines—evolving from a cinematic vehicle into a fully playable character class in games like *Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes* and *LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga*.
Da Collezione
Collectibles representing the Resistance X-Wing Fighter and its pilots span major toy manufacturers and action figure scales. Hasbro launched key vehicle products in 2015, including the 3.75-inch scale *Class III Deluxe Resistance X-Wing Fighter* (with Poe Dameron and BB-8) and the *Black Series Titanium* die-cast Resistance X-Wing (#02). Hasbro also released 6-inch *The Black Series* pilot figures (#007 Poe Dameron) and 3.75-inch carded pilot figures, later expanding into *The Vintage Collection* and *Micro Galaxy Squadron* lines.
LEGO has maintained an extensive collection of Resistance X-wing products, introducing minifigure `sw0659` (*Resistance X-wing Pilot*) in Set 75102 (*Poe's X-Wing Fighter*) in 2015. Subsequent LEGO releases include Set 75149 (*Resistance X-Wing Fighter*), Microfighter Set 75125 (minifigure `sw0705`), and the 2021 beginner Set 75297. For tabletop gamers, Fantasy Flight Games released the T-70 in the *Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game* (*The Force Awakens Core Set* and *T-70 X-Wing Expansion Pack*), which remains highly sought after for its detailed scale molding and tactical pilot upgrade cards.

Reference guide *Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia* lists the craft's primary weapons as KX9 laser cannons, whereas most other technical sources state KX12 cannons.
