Cronologia
Biografia
Raphael is the aggressive, fiercely loyal muscle of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Easily recognized across all incarnations by his red bandana and dual sai daggers, Raph is defined by a hair-trigger temper, sarcastic wit, and an intense passion for combat.
Despite his prickly exterior and frequent clashes with authority, his dedication to protecting his family and home in the sewers of New York City is absolute. Throughout the franchise, Raphael acts as the team's quintessential bad boy. Whether operating as a solo vigilante on the urban rooftops or fighting alongside his brothers against Shredder and the Foot Clan, Raph continually balances his inner rage with his deep bond to Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and his sensei, Master Splinter.
Storia
Created by comic artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird in May 1984, Raphael debuted in Mirage Studios' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1.
Mutated alongside his three brothers by alien mutagen ooze, he was raised in the sewers of New York City and trained in ninjutsu by his adoptive father and sensei, Master Splinter.
In the original black-and-white comic run, all four turtles wore identical red headbands; Raphael was distinguished primarily by his violent temper and dual sai. In 1985's Raphael #1 Micro-Series, his backstory expanded through his fateful meeting with hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones, who quickly became his lifelong best friend and street-fighting confidant.

Evoluzione
Raphael has undergone drastic stylistic and narrative evolutions since his 1984 debut. In the original Mirage Studios comic book, he was depicted as an intensely violent, unpredictable brawler who wore an identical red headband to his brothers. The 1987 animated television series popularized his distinct red bandana and redefined his personality into a sarcastic, fourth-wall-breaking figure famed for his 'cool, but rude' attitude. Subsequent eras pushed Raphael into darker and radically different concepts.
During Image Comics' TMNT Volume 3 in the 1990s, Raph suffered extreme facial scars, briefly wore Shredder's armor, and assumed leadership over the Foot Clan to manage New York's underworld. In 2012's Nickelodeon animated series, his vulnerable side was highlighted through his pet turtle Spike and a secret phobia of cockroaches, whereas 2018's Rise of the TMNT reimagined him as a giant Alligator Snapping Turtle wielding magical tonfa while acting as the group's eldest brother and leader. Modern storylines range from his youthful, impulsive depiction in Mutant Mayhem to his tragic, solitary sacrifice against Karai in the dystopian future of TMNT: The Last Ronin.
