Biography

Elvin Haliday operates as the superhero Rage, possessing immense superhuman physical capabilities despite acquiring his adult body while still a teenager. Driven by a desire for justice and community representation, Elvin initially confronted the Avengers at their mansion, demanding membership while calling out Captain America over the team's lack of Black heroes.
After proving his worth during an Avengers mission against L.D. 50, he was granted probationary reserve status. His tenure with Earth's Mightiest Heroes was short-lived; after his true age of 14 was exposed during a battle against the Sons of the Serpent and Hate-Monger, Captain America demoted him to trainee status.
Frustrated by the decision, Elvin left the team and eventually found a true peer group with the New Warriors, with whom he spent years adventuring. Throughout his heroics, Elvin has remained dedicated to protecting marginalized communities and opposing systemic injustice. He took a strong stance against anti-superhuman registration during the Civil War, fought against violent private policing forces like the Americops, and eventually assumed a grounded community leadership role operating under the alias "The O.G."
Backstory

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Elvin Haliday was between 12 and 14 years old when he was chased into a heavily polluted drain pipe near Newtown Creek by a gang of racist bullies.
While trapped inside, industrial workers illegally dumped toxic and radioactive chemical waste from Fisk Biochem directly onto him. Elvin managed to return home, where his grandmother, Edna "Granny" Staples, nursed him back to health.
The exposure to the toxic chemicals triggered a radical physical mutation, causing Elvin's body to rapidly grow into that of a heavily muscled adult man in his mid-30s. Encouraged by his grandmother to utilize his newfound gifts for the public good, Elvin crafted a homemade costume consisting of a yellow mask, leather vest, and body armor, taking up the mantle of Rage.

Evolution
Rage debuted as an impulsive, headstrong vigilante who challenged the superhero establishment on issues of racial diversity and systemic neglect. His early character arc focused on the paradox of a young teenager trapped inside the body of a imposing 35-year-old adult, struggling between his desire to join premier teams like the Avengers and his actual chronological age. Following the tragic murder of his grandmother Edna Staples and his departure from the Avengers, Elvin matured through his tenure with the New Warriors.
He became more distrustful of institutional superhero leadership, leading him to reject the Superhuman Registration Act during the Civil War event and co-found Counter Force to keep rogue government programs accountable. In more recent narratives, Rage's focus shifted decisively toward grassroots community advocacy and protesting systemic issues such as police brutality. He voluntarily submitted to legal proceedings against the Americops to highlight judicial bias, and later transitioned into a neighborhood leader operating under the name "The O.G."

Despite standing 6'6" and weighing 450 lbs, Rage was revealed to be only 14 years old during his initial run with the Avengers.
