Cronologia
Biografia
Optimus Prime is the iconic supreme commander of the heroic Autobots, created by Hasbro and Takara Tomy as the flagship hero of the Transformers franchise. Characterized by his unyielding compassion, moral nobility, and tactical prowess, Optimus Prime stands as a relentless defender of freedom and all peaceful sentient life.
Across decades of media, he has been iconically brought to life by voice actor Peter Cullen, as well as Chris Hemsworth in recent animated depictions. Originally an ordinary Cybertronian dock worker or clerk named Orion Pax, his destiny shifted when he received the Matrix of Leadership and was recreated into Optimus Prime.
Tasked with leading the Autobots against Megatron and the Decepticons, Optimus guided his forces through a millennia-long civil war across Cybertron and Earth to protect innocent lives and secure vital energy resources. As the moral pillar of the Transformers universe, Optimus Prime's story is defined by selfless leadership, tragic heroic sacrifices—most famously in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie—and legendary resurrections. Whether commanding space bridges, battling cosmic threats like Unicron, or uniting Autobots and humans, Optimus Prime remains one of pop culture's most enduring heroes.
Storia
Before assuming the mantle of Autobot leadership, Optimus Prime began his life on Cybertron as Orion Pax, an ordinary worker or archivist. Even before the outbreak of the Great War, he stood out as a Transformer of note, demonstrating exceptional skills in Cybertron's Infraformers Sharp-shooting Competition. When war erupted across the planet, Orion quickly distinguished himself as an exceptional combat leader.
Recreated by the ancient Sage Alpha Trion, he was bestowed with the Matrix of Leadership. As Decepticon forces besieged the Autobot capital of Iacon, the Council of Elders prepared to surrender. High Councilor Traachon exercised his veto power to elect himself out of office, allowing Optimus Prime to become supreme commander—the first military soldier ever to hold Autobot leadership.
Four million years ago, when Cybertron drifted into an asteroid swarm, Optimus led his elite warriors aboard the starship Ark to destroy the threat. Ambushed by Megatron's Decepticons following the mission, Optimus made the ultimate sacrifice play to protect the secrets of the Ark's supercomputer, Auntie. He set the starship on a suicide crash course into prehistoric Earth, plunging both factions into stasis until a volcanic eruption reactivated them in 1984 AD.

Evoluzione
Over forty years of media, Optimus Prime's design, characterization, and battle capabilities have continuously evolved. In Generation 1, he emerged as a benevolent red-and-blue cab truck, acting as a wise patriarch who sacrificed himself for his troops. The Marvel comics expanded his form through the Powermaster upgrade bonded with Hi-Q, and later an Actionmaster state resulting from Nucleon exposure. By Generation 2 and the Unicron Trilogy era, Optimus took on heavily armed combat builds, including Laser trailer configurations, fire truck forms (Fire Convoy), Super Mode armor combinations, and Cyber Planet Key power-ups. These iterations emphasized combination mechanics with Ultra Magnus and Jetfire.
Michael Bay's live-action cinematic era radically reshaped Optimus into a fiery Peterbilt 379 truck with a more aggressive combat posture, later evolving into a knight-inspired Western Star vehicle wielding a broadsword and shield. Meanwhile, animated series like Transformers Animated and Prime explored alternate facets, portraying him as a rookie squad leader and a stoic military commander battling Dark Energon. In recent years, the rebooted films (Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts) and Skybound's Energon Universe comics have embraced a synthesis of G1 nostalgia and raw combat action. The animated prequel Transformers One marks a new evolutionary phase, detailing the tragic shift of Orion Pax from Megatron's brother-in-arms into the heroic leader of Cybertron.
