Cronologia
Biografia
Nathan Drake is a world-renowned treasure hunter, deep-sea salvage expert, and self-taught historical scholar. Born Nathan Morgan around 1975, he and his older brother Samuel adopted the surname 'Drake' in their youth to honor their late mother's theory regarding the surviving descendants of Sir Francis Drake.
Known for surviving peril by the skin of his teeth, Nate relies on his quick wit, physical agility, and vast historical research during his globetrotting expeditions. Throughout his adventuring career, Drake uncovers legendary lost treasure and mythical sites across the globe, including El Dorado, the lost fleet of Marco Polo, Shambhala, Iram of the Pillars, and the pirate haven of Libertalia.
Alongside his long-time mentor and father figure Victor 'Sully' Sullivan, Drake frequently clashes with ruthless rival treasure hunters, warlords, and secret societies seeking powerful relics. After years of high-stakes escapades, Drake eventually retires from illegal treasure hunting following a final quest for Captain Henry Avery's lost pirate hoard. He settles down into a legal career running D&F Salvage with his wife, investigative journalist Elena Fisher, with whom he raises their daughter, Cassie.
Storia
Nathan Morgan was born in 1975 to archaeologist Cassandra Morgan and an unnamed father. In 1980, after Cassandra died from an undisclosed illness, their father surrendered five-year-old Nathan and his older brother Samuel to the state. The boys were placed in Saint Francis' Boy's Home, a Catholic orphanage, where Nathan learned Latin from the nuns and free-running and climbing skills from Sam.
At age thirteen, Nathan fled the orphanage with Sam after his brother tracked down their deceased mother's sold possessions. Breaking into the home of Evelyn, an archaeologist and former friend of their mother, the boys discovered Cassandra's journals regarding the heirs of Sir Francis Drake.
When Evelyn suddenly suffered a fatal heart attack during their confrontation, the brothers fled from the police and adopted the surname 'Drake' to carry on their mother's historical legacy. By age fifteen, Nathan was living on his own in Cartagena, Colombia. While attempting to steal Sir Francis Drake's ring from the Museo Marítimo, he encountered professional thief Victor 'Sully' Sullivan and Katherine Marlowe. After Sully saved young Nate from Marlowe's agents, he took the boy under his wing, serving as his partner, mentor, and father figure.

Evoluzione
Nathan Drake's character arc transitions from a reckless, orphaned runaway seeking validation through historical myths to a grounded family man who learns the value of human connection over physical treasure. Originally named Nathan Morgan, he adopted the mantle of 'Drake' during adolescence to give meaning to his mother's unfinished research. In his early years, Nate was driven by glory, money, and a desperate drive to prove his self-proclaimed lineage, often risking his life and the safety of those around him.
As his adventures progressed across the globe, Nate's reckless obsession was gradually tempered by his relationships with Elena Fisher and Sully. Facing deadly ancient curses, betrayals, and ruthless warlords forced him to confront the dark consequences of uncontrolled treasure hunting. His ultimate emotional test arrived when his long-lost brother Sam reappeared, tempting Nate out of quiet retirement for one last score. By the end of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Nate fully relinquishes his dangerous obsession with lost treasures, choosing to protect his family over gold. He transitions into a legal career co-owning D&F Salvage with Elena, using his historical knowledge for legitimate salvage operations while raising their daughter, Cassie.

Before the official 2022 feature film starring Tom Holland, Nathan Fillion played Nathan Drake in a popular 2018 live-action fan film.
