Mosquitor, real name Bliddeon Black, is an Evil Energy-Draining Insectoid cyborg vampire affiliated with Hordak's Evil Horde in the Masters of the Universe franchise. First released by Mattel in late 1986/1987 with a iconic liquid blood-pumping chest mechanism, he has appeared across minicomics, comic series, tabletop board games, modern action figure lines, and animated reimaginings.
Cronologia
Biografia
Mosquitor is an Evil Energy-Draining Insectoid cyborg warrior and high-ranking enforcer within Hordak's Evil Horde.
Sculpted by Pat Dunn and introduced in Wave 6 of the original Masters of the Universe toy line, Mosquitor serves as a sinister energy vampire who inserts his needle-tipped metallic snout into opponents to siphon their life force and blood, visibly filling his transparent chest chamber to power himself up.
In narrative media, Mosquitor made his printed debut in the 1987 Mattel minicomic Enter... Buzz-Saw Hordak!, where he drains the Sorceress's life force to help Hordak create a fake holographic double, and later ambushes He-Man in combat. He went on to feature across various comic continuities, including Star Comics, UK MOTU magazines, the MOTU daily newspaper comic strips, MVCreations, DC Comics, and Dark Horse's Masters of the Universe: Revelation prequel series. In the 2021–2022 Netflix CGI series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the character was reimagined as Mo'Squit'ra (or Mo'squita'ra), an insectoid bandit who reluctantly aligns with Stratos and the Heroic Warriors to defend Avion.
Storia
Mosquitor's origin and backstory were formally established in his 2012 Masters of the Universe Classics release.
Born Bliddeon Black, he is a Kribleen insectoid vampire hailing from the Bluubux Galaxy.
Rather than remaining on his home world, he chose to pledge allegiance to Hordak's Evil Horde empire as a devastating energy-draining warrior. Expanded lore introduced in the Masterverse New Eternia line frames Mosquitor as a planet-killing unit dispatched to New Eternia by Hordak specifically to siphon the Power of Grayskull.

Evoluzione
Mosquitor was sculpted by Pat Dunn and trademarked by Mattel in June 1986, debuting in Wave 6 of the vintage toy line. Because Filmation's She-Ra: Princess of Power animated series finished production before his figure shipped, Mosquitor had no 1980s television cartoon presence. Instead, his image evolved through print media like Star Comics and UK comic magazines, which depicted him with flight abilities and alternate head designs such as an organic brown face or reptilian head.
In 2012, Mattel expanded his backstory through the Masters of the Universe Classics line, naming him Bliddeon Black and establishing him as a Kribleen alien vampire from the Bluubux Galaxy. In 2021–2022, the character underwent major modern updates: a vintage-styled MOTU Origins figure included interchangeable head sculpts honoring UK comic art, while Netflix's CGI show reimagined the character as Mo'Squit'ra, a female heroic bandit. The Masterverse New Eternia line further evolved him into a planet-siphoning super-weapon.
Da Collezione
Mosquitor is considered one of the most collectible figures from the vintage Masters of the Universe line. Released late in 1986/1987 during Wave 6 near the demise of the original toyline, his production run was limited, resulting in lower availability. Original Mint on Card (MOC) figures featuring a functional liquid blood-pumping chest switch command high prices on secondary markets like eBay. Several prominent collectibles have been produced across different brands over the years.
NECA released a six-inch statue of Mosquitor in 2002 despite his absence from the 2002 animated show. Mattel added him to the MOTU Classics line in December 2012, followed by a 2021 MOTU Origins Deluxe figure with a working blood mechanism and an extra UK comic-inspired head. Recent highlights include the 2022 Power Attack Mo-Squit'ra figure for the CGI line and the Wave 19 Masterverse New Eternia 7-inch figure featuring 30 points of articulation, translucent wings, and interchangeable blood-filled and drained chest plates.

Mosquitor never appeared in any 1980s Filmation cartoon because She-Ra finished production before his toy hit shelves.
