Biografia
Miguel Diaz is introduced as a kind-hearted high school student living in Reseda, Los Angeles. After being saved from school bullies by his neighbor, down-on-his-luck karate veteran Johnny Lawrence, Miguel convinces Johnny to train him.
He becomes the very first student of the reopened Cobra Kai dojo, as well as its default site administrator and janitor. Under Johnny's mentorship, Miguel transforms from an insecure teenager into a formidable martial artist and the 50th All-Valley Karate Tournament champion.
Throughout the series, he serves as the emotional core of the narrative, navigating intense dojo rivalries, severe physical injuries, complex romantic relationships, and a deep surrogate father-son bond with Johnny Lawrence. As the series progresses, Miguel balances high school academic goals—aiming for admission to Stanford University—with high-stakes global martial arts competitions, ultimately serving as a cornerstone fighter in the international Sekai Taikai tournament.
Storia
Miguel was born in the second half of 2001. His mother, Carmen Diaz, was married to Hector Salazar, a dangerous criminal connected to a drug cartel in Ecuador.
Realizing the danger of Hector's lifestyle while pregnant with Miguel, Carmen fled Ecuador alongside her mother, Rosa. They took refuge in the United States, where Miguel was born.
After moving around the country, the family spent time in Riverside before eventually settling in Reseda Heights, a neighborhood in Los Angeles. Growing up, Miguel suffered from asthma and was unaware of the true criminal nature of his biological father.

Evoluzione
Miguel's journey begins as an unconfident, asthmatic victim of bullying. Training under Johnny Lawrence gives him strength, but the toxic "No Mercy" ethos of Cobra Kai temporarily corrupts his moral judgment, leading him to exploit Robby Keene's injury to win the All-Valley Championship in Season 1.
In Season 2, Miguel works to reclaim his honor, choosing to show mercy to Robby during a school riot—a decision that tragically results in Robby kicking him over a balcony, leaving Miguel paralyzed. Season 3 showcases his immense mental resilience as he relearns to walk through Johnny's unorthodox physical therapy. Over Seasons 4 through 6, Miguel evolves into a balanced martial artist by incorporating both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do philosophies. After facing his roots in Mexico and forgiving Robby, Miguel matures into a grounded young adult focused on his academic future at Stanford University while competing at the highest level in the Sekai Taikai.

Miguel dropped out midway through the 51st All-Valley Karate Tournament to search for his biological father in Mexico.
