In 1985, Marty is an aspiring teenage musician plagued by self-doubt and fear of failure. After Doc Brown is attacked by terrorists while demonstrating the DeLorean time machine, Marty escapes into the vehicle and accidentally triggers the time circuits, sending him back thirty years to November 5, 1955.
Upon arriving in 1955 Hill Valley, Marty inadvertently disrupts the fateful first meeting between his teenage parents, George McFly and Lorraine Baines, putting his own existence in jeopardy as he begins fading from reality.
To repair the timeline, Marty tracks down the 1955 version of Doc Brown and devises a plan to ensure George and Lorraine fall in love at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. Along the way, Marty confronts high school bully Biff Tannen, inspiring his father George to stand up for himself. After successfully reuniting his parents and returning to 1985 via a lightning strike at the clock tower, Marty discovers an improved present where his family is confident, prosperous, and happy.
