Cronologia
Biografia
Mario is the heroic protagonist of the Mushroom Kingdom, renowned for his courage and extraordinary jumping abilities.
When the peaceful Mushroom Kingdom is invaded by Bowser and the Koopa tribe, Mario answers the call to rescue Princess Peach (Princess Toadstool)—the only person capable of undoing Bowser's dark magic—and save her people.
Throughout his adventures, Mario works alongside his twin brother Luigi to navigate treacherous stages, leap over deep pits, swim through ocean depths, and infiltrate dangerous castles. Facing Bowser's army of Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Hammer Brothers, Mario consistently braves dark magic and hazardous obstacles to restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Storia
Mario made his first appearance in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong under the original name 'Jumpman'.
Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, he was initially depicted as a carpenter attempting to save his girlfriend, Pauline, from a giant gorilla.
In 1982, he was officially renamed 'Mario' in Donkey Kong Jr., taking his name from Mario Segale, the landlord of Nintendo of America's office. Mario's career officially shifted to plumbing in 1983 with the arcade release of Mario Bros., which also introduced his younger twin brother Luigi. Mario's console legacy was cemented in 1985 with the release of Super Mario Bros. on the NES, establishing his long-running hero's journey in the Mushroom Kingdom.
I PEZZI DI MARIO
Evoluzione
Mario has undergone a significant transformation from an 8-bit arcade character into a multi-industry pop culture icon. Originally introduced as Jumpman the carpenter in 1981, he quickly evolved into Mario the Italian plumber in 1983. Over the decades, his platforming mechanics expanded from 2D side-scrollers like Super Mario Bros. to full 3D exploration games such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Odyssey.
Mario's presence has extended into kart racing, puzzle games, sports, and turn-based RPGs. His vocal performance was shaped by Charles Martinet from the mid-1990s until 2023, when Kevin Afghani took over the role in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. His media presence has grown from early cartoon series and a 1993 live-action movie into blockbuster animated films, including 2023's $1.36 billion hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie and 2026's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
