MAGNETO
Magneto, born Max Eisenhardt and also known as Erik Lehnsherr, is one of the most powerful and complex figures in Marvel Comics, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963. A Holocaust survivor possessing absolute mastery over magnetic forces, he oscillates between being the X-Men's greatest nemesis and one of mutantkind's most dedicated leaders and protectors.
Cronologia
Biografia

Max Eisenhardt, commonly known as Erik Lehnsherr or Magneto, is a central figure in Marvel lore who stands as the primary champion of mutant rights through radical action. Surviving the atrocities of World War II and the Holocaust, Erik lost his entire family, an ordeal that permanently shattered his faith in humanity.
Upon discovering his mutant ability to manipulate magnetic fields, he came to view mutantkind as Homo Superior—the rightful dominant species of Earth—and swore never again to allow his people to be persecuted. Throughout his history, Magneto has served as both the fierce founder of the Brotherhood of Mutants and an essential leader for the X-Men.
His relationship with Charles Xavier is defined by a deep personal friendship paired with an intense ideological conflict: while Xavier dreams of peaceful human-mutant coexistence, Magneto believes humanity will inevitably attempt to eradicate mutants. Over the decades, Magneto has taken up crucial leadership roles, ranging from ruling the island nation of Genosha and co-founding Krakoa's Quiet Council to executing Charles Xavier's final wishes as headmaster of Xavier's School.
Storia

Magneto's origins begin with his tragic childhood during World War II, where he witnessed horrific atrocities firsthand and lost his entire family in the Holocaust. After the war, he married Magda Eisenhardt and later worked as an aide in a psychiatric hospital alongside Charles Xavier.
When hostile remnants of invading forces attacked the hospital, Charles and Erik revealed their mutant powers to one another while saving a patient. However, Erik's attempt to kill the attackers caused a sharp rift between the two friends, as Charles advocated for peace while Erik deemed humanity fundamentally incapable of harmony with mutants.
Tragedy continued to follow Erik when his wife Magda fled from him in terror after seeing him violently destroy a village with his magnetic abilities. Unbeknownst to Magneto, Magda was pregnant with twins, Pietro and Wanda, prior to her death. Heartbroken and determined to safeguard mutantkind, Erik assumed the identity of Magneto, gathered followers into the Brotherhood of Mutants, and built safe havens such as Asteroid M and the Savage Land citadel to prepare for a mutant-dominated future.

Evoluzione
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963 (The X-Men #1), Magneto initially debuted as a megalomaniacal mutant supremacist bent on world domination. However, writer Chris Claremont revolutionized the character in 1981 (Uncanny X-Men #150) by introducing his backstory as a Jewish survivor of Auschwitz. This tragic origin reframed Magneto from a simple villain into one of fiction's most compelling anti-heroes, whose radical actions stem from an overwhelming desire to prevent another genocide.
Magneto's evolution subsequently saw him transition between antagonist, protector, and hero. In the mid-1980s, he took over as headmaster of Xavier's School to mentor the New Mutants. Across the 1990s and 2000s, he established mutant safe havens like Asteroid M and Genosha. Following the horrific destruction of Genosha, Magneto aligned with Cyclops on Utopia and later co-founded the sovereign mutant state of Krakoa in 2019, sitting on its governing Quiet Council. Following his death in A.X.E.: Judgment Day (2022) and resurrection by Storm in 2024, Magneto re-emerged as a central, heroic mentor figure in the post-Krakoan From the Ashes era.
