Cronologia
Biografia
Lord Voldemort, born Tom Marvolo Riddle on December 31, 1926, is the central antagonist of the Harry Potter universe. A half-blood wizard of immense dark power and the last known descendant of Salazar Slytherin, Voldemort is driven by an obsessive fear of death and a deep belief in pure-blood supremacy.
Rejecting his Muggle ancestry, he assumed the title 'Lord Voldemort' during his time at Hogwarts, seeking to purge the wizarding world of Muggle-borns and establish absolute rule. Throughout his life, Voldemort orchestrated two devastating Wizarding Wars.
His quest for eternal life led him to split his soul into multiple Horcruxes, rendering him immortal until each was destroyed. As the supreme leader of the Death Eaters, his reign of terror dominated the late 20th century, placing him in direct opposition to Albus Dumbledore's Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter, the prophesied 'Boy Who Lived.' His reign ended on May 2, 1998, at the Battle of Hogwarts when his own rebounded Killing Curse destroyed him permanently.
Storia
Tom Marvolo Riddle was born in London at Wool's Orphanage to Merope Gaunt, a pure-blood witch descended from Salazar Slytherin, and Tom Riddle Sr., a wealthy Muggle who abandoned Merope after she stopped using a love potion on him. Merope died shortly after giving birth, leaving young Tom to grow up in the dingy orphanage.
Unaware of his magical lineage, he demonstrated unusually high control over his abilities from an early age, including mind control, animal manipulation, Parseltongue, and inflicting harm on other children. In 1938, Albus Dumbledore visited eleven-year-old Tom to inform him of his wizarding heritage and invite him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Sorted into Slytherin House, Riddle was an exceptional student who concealed his cruel nature behind a charming facade, winning over most teachers except Dumbledore. Driven by an obsession to research his heritage and surpass human mortality, Riddle discovered his connection to Slytherin, opened the Chamber of Secrets in his fifth year, murdered his father and paternal grandparents, and successfully split his soul to create his first Horcruxes before graduating in 1945.

Evoluzione
Lord Voldemort's character evolution is marked by a dramatic physical and psychological transformation from a brilliant orphan into the most feared Dark wizard of all time. Beginning as Tom Marvolo Riddle at Wool's Orphanage, he displayed early signs of cruelty, secretiveness, and a desire to be distinct from ordinary humans. At Hogwarts, he cultivated a charming, model-student persona to manipulate faculty while privately forming a network of subservient Slytherin followers who would become his first Death Eaters.
His spiritual and physical degradation accelerated as he systematically split his soul into Horcruxes, beginning with his diary and ring in 1943. Following his mysterious downfall in 1981 after his Killing Curse rebounded off infant Harry Potter, Voldemort was reduced to a weak, disembodied spectral entity hiding in Albania. He survived through parasitic possession of Quirinus Quirrell before undergoing a dark, serpentine rebirth in 1995 using dark magic in Little Hangleton. Stripped of his handsome human appearance, he emerged as a pale, snake-like figure with red eyes and slit nostrils, fully embracing a tyrannical, immortal identity until all his Horcruxes were systematically dismantled, leading to his mortal end.
