Biografia

James Howlett, commonly known as Logan or Wolverine (and operating under aliases such as "Patch"), was created by writer Len Wein, art director John Romita Sr., and penciler Herb Trimpe (with concept contributions from Roy Thomas).

He made his debut in October 1974 in a cameo appearance in The Incredible Hulk #180 before his first full appearance in issue #181.

Initially working as an agent for Canada's Department H, Logan was recruited in 1975 by Professor Charles Xavier in Giant-Size X-Men #1 to join the X-Men, where writer Chris Claremont helped mold him into an iconic anti-hero. Throughout his history, Logan serves as a rugged protector of mutantkind, a field mentor to young heroes like Jubilee and his clone-daughter Laura Kinney (X-23), and a core black-ops operative for X-Force during the Krakoan era. Widely portrayed in live-action cinema by Hugh Jackman across 24 years, Logan remains a flagship superhero and central figure in Marvel media.

Storia

Born James Howlett, Logan discovered his mutant abilities at a young age, displaying regenerative healing, heightened senses, and bone claws naturally housed within his forearms.

In the divergent Earth-10005 timeline, Logan was working as a mafia bodyguard in 1973 when his consciousness was overtaken by his future self to prevent Bolivar Trask's murder by Mystique, triggering violent flashbacks of Major William Stryker. Over the subsequent decade, Logan was taken by the U.S.

Army's Weapon X Program to Alkali Lake, where Colonel Stryker oversaw experiments that wiped Logan's memories and bonded unbreakable Adamantium to his skeleton and claws. Ten years after his capture, Logan was freed from his cell by mutant teenagers and fled into the snowy forest with only faint telepathic fragments of his past. In comic canonical history, this grueling origin procedure was detailed by Barry Windsor-Smith in the acclaimed "Weapon X" storyline.

LO SAPEVI?In the 1989 animated pilot X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men, Logan was voiced with an Australian accent.

Evoluzione

Introduced in 1974 as a ferocious Canadian agent in The Incredible Hulk, Logan was rapidly developed by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller into an anti-hero bound by samurai bushido. Magneto's violent extraction of his metal skeleton in 1993 revealed his natural bone claws, briefly regressing him to a more feral state until Apocalypse rebound Adamantium to his bones in 1999.

His timeline expanded through dystopian stories such as Old Man Logan (2008), his death encased in molten metal in Death of Wolverine (2014), and his resurrection in 2018. During the Krakoan era (2019–2024), he served as X-Force's primary black-ops operative before returning to his lone-wolf roots in 2024's "From the Ashes" initiative. Cinematically, Hugh Jackman's 24-year portrayal expanded Logan into a global pop-culture icon, culminating in his MCU yellow-suited multiverse entry in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).
