KING SPHINX
King Sphinx is an iconic Egyptian pharaoh-themed monster created by Finster for Rita Repulsa in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Crafted from clay mixed with Egyptian sand, he combines wing-generated wind blasts, scepter fireballs, and energy beams to battle the Power Rangers.
Cronologia
Biografia
Finster created King Sphinx for Rita Repulsa by adding a handful of Egyptian sand into a clay mold. Finster suggested sending King Sphinx to Earth to isolate Red Ranger Jason Lee Scott from his teammates, aiming to destroy Jason and leave the Power Rangers leaderless and vulnerable.
During his mission at the Children's Theater, King Sphinx deployed alongside Putty Patrollers. To isolate Jason, King Sphinx flapped his massive feathered wings, unleashing wind blasts powerful enough to blow Kimberly and Zack all the way back to the Angel Grove Youth Center and demorph them.
After a blade lock with Jason, King Sphinx teleported himself and the Red Ranger to a rock quarry. Goldar soon joined the battle, and Rita Repulsa enlarged both villains to crush Jason. After Jason retrieved the new Power Crystals and summoned his teammates alongside the Dinozords, the Rangers formed the Megazord to fight back. Although King Sphinx launched his Mega Wind Blast and Cobra energy beams, the Megazord deflected his slashes and ultimately destroyed King Sphinx using the Power Sword's energized slash.
Storia
King Sphinx traces his origins to Finster's monster workshop, where he was created as an Egyptian pharaoh-styled monster complete with blue-and-gold headgear, feathered wings, and a lion-like face.
In Toei's Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, the original character was Dora Sphinx, who disguised himself as a human game show host to trap children with riddles before facing Daizyujin.
During early production for the American adaptation, the character was originally named 'Fly Guy' in the unaired pilot before officially debuting as King Sphinx in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episode 'A Pressing Engagement'.

Evoluzione
King Sphinx's character evolved from a riddle-themed monster host named Dora Sphinx in 1992's Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger into a brute-force commander in 1993's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Designed to physically dominate Jason Scott, his Egyptian-inspired aesthetic immediately set him apart, leading to widespread inclusion in early 1990s show promos, merchandise, and background props across television series such as Big Bad Beetleborgs. In modern media, King Sphinx transitioned from a single-episode television villain into an enduring legacy icon. His presence expanded across tabletop card games, BOOM! Studios comic books featuring multiversal timelines, and major video game appearances ranging from classic handheld titles to modern games like Legacy Wars and Rita's Rewind.
