Cronologia
Biografia

Waylon Jones, known professionally as Killer Croc, is a formidable Gotham City villain defined by his terrifying reptilian physical mutations and immense physical power.
Created by writer Gerry Conway alongside artists Don Newton and Gene Colan, he made his first shadowy cameo appearance in Detective Comics #523 in February 1983 before making his full physical debut in Batman #357 in March 1983.
Originally starting out as a cold, ambitious mob leader aiming to seize control of Gotham's criminal underworld, he gradually descended into the subterranean sewer system, becoming an urban legend and subterranean apex predator. Over his decades-long comic history, Croc's role has shifted between a ruthlessly ambitious crime boss, a tragic outcast, a subterranean protector of Gotham's underground homeless community, and a core operative for Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad (Task Force X). Despite his savage violence and ongoing battles against Batman, he remains a deeply tragic figure whose inhuman physical traits—driven by genetic disease and physical experimentation—alienated him from human society.
Storia

Born in Tampa, Florida, Waylon Jones suffered from a rare genetic condition described as epidermolytic hyperkeratosis or regressive atavism. The condition caused his skin to grow into thick, hardened reptilian scales, accompanied by sharp claws and razor teeth.
Subjected to severe physical and emotional abuse by his aunt during childhood, Jones developed severe psychological trauma and a hatred toward humanity.
As an adult, Jones found work as a carnival strongman and wrestler under the moniker 'Killer Croc,' where he wrestled live alligators for spectators. Seeking money and power, he abandoned carnival life and relocated to Gotham City to establish himself as a dominant mob boss. In his early Pre-Crisis criminal pursuits, he targeted Gotham's organized crime syndicates and famously murdered Joseph and Trina Todd, the carnival acrobat parents of Jason Todd.

Evoluzione
Killer Croc's depiction has evolved significantly since his 1983 debut. Originally portrayed as a tall, muscular man with heavy grey, scaly skin and sharp mobster intellect, he commanded organized crime syndicates and operated like a traditional Gotham mob boss. Over subsequent decades, chemical mutagens, cellular degeneration, and psychological trauma progressively stripped away his human appearance and intellect. Storylines like Knightfall, Batman: Hush, and Dr.
Arkham's experiments mutated him into a massive, tail-bearing reptilian monster with predatory instincts. However, modern comic eras—including The New 52 and DC Rebirth—recontextualized Croc with newfound emotional complexity. He emerged as a protective guardian for Gotham's disenfranchised underground homeless population in Batman Eternal, formed a genuine romantic relationship with Enchantress while serving on Task Force X, and retained a prominent role across multiverse variations and modern media adaptations.
Da Collezione
For collectible enthusiasts, Killer Croc represents one of the most visually distinctive characters in Gotham's rogue gallery due to his shifting physical proportions across comic and gaming eras. His evolution from a human-sized mobster to a hulking subterranean behemoth makes him a popular subject for dynamic display models and stylized figures.
In toy and construction media, Killer Croc is prominently immortalized in the LEGO line. LEGO produced dedicated minifigures and specialized oversized 'Bigfig' character molds featured in sets across Lego Batman: The Videogame, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and The LEGO Batman Movie. His imposing presence in the Batman: Arkham game series also inspired popular physical media depictions reflecting his monstrous sewer-dwelling aesthetic.

The 2021 live-action series Batwoman introduced a lore twist where Killer Croc's shed teeth can infect ordinary humans, transforming them into new Crocs.
