Cronologia
Biografia

Jack Skellington is a tall, extremely slender white skeleton with a cross-stitch mouth and bony fingers, dressed in his signature black-and-white pinstripe tuxedo with a bat-themed bowtie. As the undisputed Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, Jack is a graceful, patient, and polite undead gentleman who always strives to act in the best interest of his town.
Despite his intelligence and leadership, Jack is naive and oblivious to the personal feelings of others, failing for a long time to notice Sally's love for him or Santa Claus's terror when they first meet. In The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack grows tired of repeating the same Halloween routine every year.
After discovering a portal to Christmas Town in the Hinterlands forest, he becomes obsessed with taking over Christmas to 'improve' it. His misguided efforts lead to terrifying toys being delivered to real-world children, military forces shooting down his sleigh, and near disaster. Realizing his error, Jack embraces his true role as the Pumpkin King, rescues Santa Claus and Sally from Oogie Boogie, and restores order to both holidays.
Storia

Jack Skellington's origins date back to 1982, when creator Tim Burton penned a three-page poem titled The Nightmare Before Christmas while working as an animator at Disney. Burton was inspired after watching retail store workers swap out Halloween merchandise displays for Christmas decorations.
A decade later, Touchstone Pictures released the feature film directed by Henry Selick, accompanied by an illustrated book featuring Burton's original poem and artwork.
Within the lore of Halloween Town, Jack earned his position as the Pumpkin King through legendary terrifying performances during Halloween celebrations, such as dancing while set ablaze. As revealed in the video game prequel The Pumpkin King, Jack established a long-standing rivalry with the monster Oogie Boogie after thwarting Oogie's plot to turn Halloween Town into 'New Bug Day' and banishing him to his underground lair.

Evoluzione
Jack Skellington's character has expanded significantly since his debut in Tim Burton's 1982 poem. Originally envisioned as a lone, theatrical skeleton seeking meaning beyond Halloween, his character was fully realized in the 1993 film with speaking voice performance by Chris Sarandon and singing voice/musical score by Danny Elfman, creating a blend of dramatic flair and emotional naivety.
Over the decades, Jack evolved from a stop-motion movie star into an active video game action protagonist. Games such as Kingdom Hearts, Oogie's Revenge, and The Pumpkin King expanded his skill set to include magic and shapeshifting weapons like the Soul Robber. In expanded literature—including TOKYOPOP graphic novels and Shea Ernshaw's sequel novel Long Live the Pumpkin Queen—Jack's early rivalry with Oogie Boogie and married life with Sally were explored, cementing his place in contemporary pop culture titles like Fortnite and Disney Speedstorm.
