Biography

Dr. Bruce Banner is a world-renowned nuclear physicist whose life was transformed after being exposed to a lethal dose of gamma radiation while saving a teenager at a bomb test site.
Whenever Banner experiences intense stress or rage, he undergoes a physical transformation into the Hulk, a giant with unmatched physical strength and durability.
Throughout his history, the Hulk's role has oscillated between Earth's protector and a destructive force pursued by military forces and supervillains. Though often feared as a monster, he has served as a core member of super-teams such as the Avengers and formed gladiatorial alliances like the Warbound during his exile on the planet Sakaar.
Origins

The Hulk made his comic book debut in The Incredible Hulk #1 in May 1962, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
During a experimental gamma bomb test, teenager Rick Jones wandered onto the restricted test site. Dr.
Bruce Banner rushed out to save Jones, pushing him into a protective trench just as the bomb detonated. Banner absorbed the full blast of gamma radiation. Instead of killing him, the radiation mutated his internal physiology, creating a split alter ego that first manifested as a grey-skinned beast before transforming into the iconic green monster driven by rage.

Evolution
Over six decades, Bruce Banner and the Hulk have undergone significant character evolution.
Initially debuting as a grey monster in 1962 before being changed to green, Peter David's 12-year comic run introduced Dissociative Identity Disorder to explain his shifting personalities, introducing the grey mob enforcer 'Joe Fixit' and 'Professor Hulk.' Later story arcs re-imagined his place in the universe. Greg Pak's Planet Hulk and World War Hulk transformed him into a gladiatorial emperor and Class Omega threat, while Al Ewing's The Immortal Hulk reinvented him through horror tropes connected to the Green Door. In the MCU, his portrayals transitioned from the tragic fugitive of Bill Bixby and Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo's 'Smart Hulk' in Avengers: Endgame, balancing intelligence with strength.
