Cronologia
Biografia
Gandalf, originally named Olórin, is one of the Istari (Wizards) sent to Middle-earth during the Third Age. Accounted as the wisest of the Maiar, he arrived in the shape of an old man robed in grey, wandering as a counselor rather than a ruler.
Unlike Saruman, he never took a permanent residence, preferring to move among the Elves, Men, and especially the Hobbits, whom he found particularly resilient and courageous during the Long Winter of TA 2758.
Throughout his long mission, Gandalf became the architect of the resistance against the returning Dark Lord Sauron. He was a key member of the White Council, though he refused to lead it to maintain his independence. His foresight led him to choose Bilbo Baggins as a 'burglar' for the Quest of Erebor, a decision that ultimately brought the One Ring back into the light and set the stage for the War of the Ring.
Storia
Gandalf was created by Ilúvatar before the Music of the Ainur and lived as a Maia in the Undying Lands of Valinor.
In his early existence, he served the Valar Manwë and Varda, but he was most deeply influenced by Nienna, from whom he learned the virtues of pity and patience.
When the Valar decided to send emissaries to Middle-earth to combat Sauron's growing shadow, Olórin was initially hesitant, admitting he feared the Dark Lord. However, Manwë insisted on his departure precisely because of that humility. Upon arriving at the Grey Havens, the Elf-lord Círdan recognized Gandalf’s inner strength and entrusted him with Narya, the Red Ring, to aid him in kindling hope in the hearts of others.

Evoluzione
Gandalf's evolution is one of increasing responsibility and sacrifice.
He began as Olórin, a spirit who feared the weight of Middle-earth's conflict, and transformed into Gandalf the Grey, a wandering pilgrim who preferred gentle guidance to overt power.
Following the recent lore established in 'The Rings of Power', we see his early identity as 'The Stranger', a vulnerable being relearning his purpose after arriving via meteor. His journey culminates in his rebirth as Gandalf the White, where he sheds his limitations to become the primary commander of the West's forces, finally fulfilling the mission for which the Valar sent him.
Da Collezione
For collectors, Gandalf is the 'Holy Grail' of wizard figures. High-end enthusiasts prioritize items featuring Sir Ian McKellen's likeness, such as the detailed assets used in the early 2000s EA movie tie-in games.
A major focus in the current market is the 2026 'Gandalf: Mithrandir' Fine Art Print by Jerry Vanderstelt, which has become a highly anticipated piece for art collectors.
LEGO versions from the 2012-2015 era remain staple investments, while the upcoming Warhorse Studios RPG is expected to trigger a new wave of 'realistic' lore-accurate merchandise. The most sought-after pieces are those that capture the transition from Grey to White, reflecting his iconic cinematic and literary evolution.

He refused the position of Chief of the White Council because he did not want to set down roots.
