EVIL QUEEN
The Evil Queen, also known as Queen Grimhilde or the Wicked Queen, is the main antagonist of Disney's landmark 1937 animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Driven by intense vanity and an obsession with being the 'fairest one of all', she uses dark magic and potions to destroy her stepdaughter, Snow White. Recognized as Disney's first major animated villain, her legacy spans classic cinema, live-action television, novels, video games, and collectibles.
Cronologia
Biografia

The Evil Queen is the icy, majestic ruler of an unnamed German kingdom who ascended to power after marrying a widowed king. Following her husband's sudden death, she assumed absolute rule over the realm, governing with a merciless iron fist. Obsessed with maintaining her status as the most beautiful woman in existence, she daily consults her Magic Mirror to confirm her supremacy.
When the mirror informs her that her young stepdaughter, Princess Snow White, has surpassed her beauty, the Queen forces the girl to wear rags and work as a scullery maid in her castle. Refusing to tolerate any rival, the Queen commands her Huntsman to murder Snow White in the forest and bring back her heart in a locked box.
Upon learning that the Huntsman betrayed her by releasing the princess, the Queen turns to dark magic in her castle laboratory. She brews a transformation potion to turn herself into a hideous old peddler woman and concocts a poisoned apple that brings upon 'The Sleeping Death.' She travels to the cottage of the seven dwarfs, tricks Snow White into biting the apple, and flees. However, her triumph is short-lived; chased up a stormy cliff by the dwarfs, she attempts to crush them with a massive boulder, only for a bolt of lightning to strike the edge, causing her to plunge to her death below.
Storia

In Disney's original film narrative, little is revealed about the Queen's past prior to her marriage to the widowed king.
After taking the crown, her reign was marked by cold cruelty and authoritarian rule.
In expanded universe literature, such as Serena Valentino's 2009 novel 'Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen', her backstory is depicted as a tragic downfall where personal grief, feelings of betrayal, and the corrupting influence of the Magic Mirror gradually warp a once-loving woman into a ruthless villain.
I PEZZI DI EVIL QUEEN
Evoluzione
During early development in 1934, Walt Disney and his artists initially toyed with a comical, fat, 'batty' cartoon aesthetic for the Queen. However, they pivoted toward a stately, high-collared medieval beauty inspired by Władysław Teodor Benda's theatrical masks and writer Dorothy Ann Blank's facial features. Supervised by animator Art Babbitt, the character relied on live-action reference footage, while artist Joe Grant designed her sinister Old Hag transformation using Arthur Rackham's fairytale illustrations as a guide.
Actress Lucille La Verne defined both personas, famously removing her false teeth during recording sessions to produce the Witch's raspy cackle. Over the decades, the character evolved from an animated cinema icon into a multifaceted figure across modern media. She transitioned into video games, literature, and live-action television—most notably in ABC's 'Once Upon a Time' (2011–2018), where Lana Parrilla's portrayal of Regina Mills reimagined the archetype with deep emotional complexity and anti-hero arcs. The character's legacy continues in major Disney releases, including Gal Gadot's live-action film portrayal in 2025.
Da Collezione
As Disney's original feature film villain, the Evil Queen occupies a high-priority status within Disney Villains merchandise and high-end collectibles.
Figures and statues frequently capture her in both of her distinct disguises: her stately royal outfit featuring her high-collared gown, crown, and cloak, or her Old Hag persona holding the glowing poison apple. Leading collectible lines, limited-edition designer doll series, scale resin statues, and Halloween event-exclusive releases consistently showcase the character, appealing strongly to adult Disney collectors and high-end statue enthusiasts.
